There are actually 3 coaches I wouldn't mind looking at on their staff. Strong, Heater and McCarney.

Strong is still my #1 out of anybody right now. He has said that he believes race is the biggest reason he hasn't gotten an offer to be a HC. I think if somebody offers him, he is gonna be pretty easy to get. Why not offer him and make him the first african-american HC at CU?!?!

People really overlook the miracles McCarney worked at ISU. He should still be there, honestly.

Him having those ISU ties probably is a non-starter for us, but he is a quality head coach and I've always wondered how he'd do at a program with a chance.

Paul Roads is a doing a better job than what McCarney ever did..

No on McCarney.. Plus he has a domestic violence incident in the past.. No way CU would touch him...

I'd be big on Strong at CU. He can recruit, he is a hard-ass and his guys play hard for him.

I like Strong, Heater is interesting and McCarney has too many things about him to not like I think. He's a good coach for what he did at ISU, but his recruiting at ISU was all JC and the run ins with the law mean it won't be happening.

I do not know where you ever got that idea, but it is not true. McCarney had the North all but won a couple different years. Rhoads has done a good job this year, but he has a ways to go to match McCarney. They made bowl games in five out of six years during one stretch there and he even got them a 9-win season as well.

McCarney had some decent talent at ISU. Sage Rosenfels (QB) and Ladell Betts (RB) have had respectable NFL careers thus far.

Troy Davis broke the string of 2,000=Heisman trophy. I didn't realize there were so many who have gone over 2,000. After Salaam, Williams was the only one to win the Heisman.

Oddly, neither Troy nor Byron amounted to much in the Pros. While virtually everyone else on that list made it to the show.

That's all true, but even his best teams couldn't close the deal on the North, allowing CU to back in [twice if I recall.] That worries me.

I like Strong. We need a coach with the opposite mentality of Hawkins. Screw the Zen crap, football is punch the other guy in the mouth, and (unless the cameras are watching) Tyler Brayton them in the groin.

As for McCarney, I'd prefer we not hire a coach that Hawkins had a winning record against.
