isu is hardly a world-beater. if this game were in boulder, i think we'd all be chalking it up as a win. but, even with the incredibly awful road record under this staff, this game is still very winnable. CU DOES have better athletes than isu. if they can just go out and execute and not let it get away from them early, they've got a good chance to win.

if they manage to beat isu, then our slim hopes of a saved season won't be totally dashed.

okie state on the road is a big, big challenge but maybe the Buffs can sneak in there and steal one. maybe? sure, all evidence supports the contrary, but it is still college football and anything can happen. if the Buffs can play a complete game, for once, they could feasibly win this one.

win that ones somehow and the head into the fusker game with the season on the line and playing at folsom, i wouldn't count the team out, would you?

6-6 might not get them into a bowl, but most everyone would sure feel a lot better about things. i know there is ton of anti-hawk sentiment and 6-6 isn't going to change that. it is hard to excuse some of the failures this staff has had. but, not HAVING to fire the coach (and a reasonable case could be made to retain him at 6-6) is probably the easiest course of action. so, most of us, even those of us who don't like hawkins, will live with it.

here's to rooting for the improbable. hell, with a few breaks, that nearly impossible 6-6 might even get them into the championship game. of course, that might be a double-edged sword!

anyhow, all we can do is hope for the best. if it doesn't work out, i imagine a decision on hawkins' future will come very quickly after the fusker game. then, we'll know where we stand.

I'm still not happy with the ad and the schedule this year. Taking a road game 5 days after late rivalry game, then taking a Thursday-made-for-espn game after a road game ...... shudda put his foot down and said no on both.

I said this after the KU game and it still holds true, the two most important games were KSU and MU. Losing those two games doomed the season and killed any momentum they might have gotten after beating the gayhawks. If they had won those games, we'd be sitting at 5-4 right now, looking at the probability of a bowl game and the prospect of a decent, yet unspectacular 7-5 season.

We shouldn't be in a position where we HAVE to win the remaining games on our schedule in order to have a winning season.

ISU is a win-win game for Colorado. Any day CU wins is good, and keeps the season on life support. Lose and Hawk has earned his pink slip, not necessarily on the spot, but they will lose at OSU the following week, ensuring 8 losses minimum.

I agree - all of those games would have been on TV (Natl or Regional) anyhow.

    Tomorrow is huge.

Win and we get back-to-back wins for the first time in over a year, a road victory for the first time since 2007, and our hopes for a bowl game alive.

Lose and there's not much to play for except pride and ruining Nebraska's season.

Even if we win tomorrow, I'd put our chances of winning in Stoolwater at about 100 to 1. The ship has sailed.

I don't know. I'm really on the fence anymore, part of me thinks lets win out and keep Hawk, replace some crappy assistants and give it a go next year. There really isn't any reason to believe that this will precede a winning season, but maybe DBT and Chilly aren't psychotic! I also sort of want to see Hawk stick around this year because we have some nice players committed in recruiting and I'd really hate to see them bail because Hawk was fired. We do seem to have gotten better over the year, although how can you get worse than the Toledo and Colorado State games?

On the other hand, Hawk has shown absolutely nothing that indicates to me giving him another year would result in anything but a failure next year as well. I guess it's at the point that, can we forgive Hawk for the Toledos, Colorado States and Missouris if he can beat Iowa State and Nebraska? Wins over A&M, Kansas, Iowa State and Nebraska really aren't great wins, but maybe it lessens the early season failures. I'll be a lot more receptive to giving him another year if he can win at least 2 out of the last 3. Losing to Iowa State this weekend all but assures his exit imo. Lose that and it's all over.

Don't think that tomorrow's game is anymore important than Okie State, and Nebraska at home. Hawk needs to win at least two to stay, and we'll only be 5-7. Fourth losing year under Hawk. It will be lousy to have to keep him, but can see why it's easier. Lame. On another note - I would love if our two quarterbacks complemented each other as well as the two Cincy QBs do.
