If CU beats NU, how much heat will Pelini get for not being able to clinch the North against a sub .500 Colorado team at home?

After all he just called you guys weak for your cheering effort against Kansas and then went off on his own players and refs yesterday. Mix that in with a epic choke job against A&M and CU, what kind of heat does he get?

He's getting some partial heat now for his behavior on the sidelines. You have one side of Husker fans that think he needs to act like Osborne. Then you have the other side that likes his fire, but understands there needs to be a limit to his fire. I'm on the latter of those two. Leash, we'll be lucky to win this game, Martinez is our entire offense. If he's not healthy we are an average team with a great defense. If he's 100% we are a very good team with a great defense. He won't be 100% against you guys so there's a 50/50 chance we'll win. All hate week bull**** aside that's the brass tax..............

Won't happen. CU is one of the worst road teams over the last 5 year span of any team..ever. I deal in facts, not "what ifs"

CU is a complete different team than any other CU team the past 5 years. Even with our ****ty road record, we still almost beat you the last time in Lincoln. You had to rely on your longest kick in school history to win. NU is overatted, your offense sucks almost as bad as last year without a healthy Martinez, and CU is night and day better than three weeks ago. This coach knows how to get his kids up, and he knows what this game means. If you think NU is in for an easy win, you have another thinng coming, I promise you that! I hope your classless coach thinks the same as your classless ignorant fans.

You are correct about CU's road record. There is no question there.

    But...

It was also a fact that when the American Revolution started the upstart and vastly out numbered, out armed and untrained colonists were taking on the greatest and most powerful empire existing in the world at that time. Who won that one?...

Just because the facts of the past are favorable doesn't mean it's going to work out that way in the future.

Get ready, on Friday the Buffs are going to bring it, bring it in a way the corn nation hasn't seen in a long while. We may still lose but don't think that we have no chance of winning.

Comparing the current CU team to the team that the corn have faced in the past 3-4 years is the same as saying that the 2008 corn team was a lock to lose to ISU, KSU, KU, etc. because of what they did 2004-2007. The players were relatively the same but with Callahan gone and Pelini there the attitude was completely changed.

CU under Cabral is showing obvious signs of being a different team than they were under Hawk. The team is much more comfortable, much more confident, much more focused than they had been for the past five years.

Am I saying that CU is a lock to win in Lincoln, no that would be stupid regardless of what team is visiting there. I will say though that the corn better not be shocked to see a CU team that comes in ready to play and looking to win.

The question posed by the OP is a good one. After the Callahan nightmare, Bo was treated as the returning prince of big red football. After a major step forward in the program things look to be stagnating or even moving backwards. I have to give kNU fans credit for having high standards, maybe higher than they are justified in having considering their location in a recruiting dead zone, but better high standards than low. How much longer does Bo get a pass for the dissapointing showings that the corn have put up a couple of times a year since he took over?

This is the second most ignorant post of the day! Come on bring some facts regarding NU. The Husker are going to be a football power and will recruit where they need to.

Although it is great that Cabral is making things happen for the Buffs. Why not make him the permanent Head Coach.

    Good Luck in the 12-Pac!

Surveyor, apparently you can't read well (not a surprise for a kNU fan) or you are as delusional as most of your fellow corn fans. The corn are going to be a football power and will recruit well just because, well they are the mighty corn! Give me a break. Nebraska has done much better than they have a logical right to but kids all over the country dream of spending 4-5 years of their young lives in Lincoln, you are nuts.

Nebraska has certain strengths and a history going for it but it also has crappy weather, a lousy media market, and is in the middle of nowhere. Are you trying to tell me that kNU is going to outrecruit Ohio State and Michigan both of which have way more history and tradition. Get a clue, Wisconsin isn't a Kansas school, Penn State has a bit more history and resources than Mizzou. Nebraska isn't a lock to do anything in the Big X.

My point in my post, if you get past your red, pop bottle thick glasses, is that Pelini hasn't matched up to the traditional expectations of the corn faithful. Losing to a down Texas team and a mediocre aTm team can't sit well, last year his teams lost at home to Texas Tech and Iowa State. The year before that he lost three in a row including two at home. I know that corn fans were beyond happy to have him back after the Callahan disaster but these kinds of loses are not up to the expectations of the fan base. Simple question, how much longer does Pelini get before the fans start holding him accountable for these loses that would have been unacceptable prior to Callahan.

And by the way if Cabral beats kNU he will probably move to the front of the list of candidates for the job. Three weeks ago this game was a zero hoper for the Buffs. Hawk had shown no ability to win games on the road against Big XII (or any other) competition. Since he was fired this team has played a completely different game from a standpoint of focus and effort. kNU will still be favored and should be but CU losing is not by any means guaranteed now.

NU won under Osborne by recruiting enough really top flight recruits (QBs, RBs, DL/LBs, DBs) to compliment the guys they brought in who were not high profile guys but who fit the mold athletically and could be developed to excell in the system. Right now NU is recruiting some very good players but on a talent for talent basis they are not recruiting at the same level as the teams contending for the NC.

NU lost some games under Osborne but compared to recent years there is a big difference. Memory tells me that when Osborne teams lost games they were to teams that were more talented. The speed teams from Oklahoma, the talented teams like Miami had, etc.. At the same time Osborne rarely if ever lost to teams with less talent. The recent loses to teams like Iowa State and Texas Tech simply didn't happen. Nebraska lined up and ran their system without error and simply wore people down, pulling away at the end. It happened often enough that some teams simply accepted it after multiple beatings in a row and had lost before the game ever started. Fans like Surveyor may not like this but those days are past. kNU is still very good but teams play them now believing they are beatable. Under Callahan and Pelini they have reason since the corn have lost some games that in the Osborne era would have been unthinkable to lose.

We may not have to wait that long, this may actually be little Bo immediately after Martinez says "I quit!"

Everything has to come to an end. This is a much different team, a much different coach. After seeing Cabral on the news tonight, I am fired up. We WILL smack NU in the face and if NU wins, they are gonna be beat up winners after the game.

    CU gonna bring it!

None. We don't make CU our bowl game. It's just another win. We don't hold you in as high esteem as you hold Big Red.

You are correct SJ, there is a chance. I just don't know how good of a chance. If you can't run the ball it will be zero. If you can, and our QB truns it over, you will have a good chance.

I just see, in an error free game(on both sides) giving NU the edge. Too much depth and the Defense is comparable to last year.

I also think CU will need a couple of NU Special Teams gaffes to help.
