Stanford up 35-21 with 13 to go.

Thus (hopefully) proving that once again the Condoms are vastly overrated.

EDIT: Make that 42-21 on a Cardinal pick six.

That pick six was a pleasant surprise.

Also, is it my imagination, or is Jake Elwood calling this game?

Not sure if that's good news, Stanford being a contender doesn't help our recruiting much.

Disregarding the CU outlook, I love watching Stanford play and I love seeing them stroll into the Coliseum and run over USC. Harbaugh is a hell of a coach.

WOW! Stanford now up 48 - 21 ... scored a TD and then went for TWO to make it an even 50, but stopped short of the goal.

Wonder if that will have any repurcussions in the future.

Woody Hayes did the same thing against Michigan in '68 ... Bo Schembechler in his first year at UM in '69 had his players wear jerseys with the '68 score the whole practice week before the OSU game. Michigan beat what was then considered the best team in CFB history 24-12.

Not good in terms of keeping Spond.

I didn't see it, but by your report, going for two was absolutely uncool.

55-21?!? That's twice now that USC got spanked this year, and this one was at home. :wow:

I want Stanfords OL Coach NOW!

I cannot stress this enough. Tougher standards and less "talent" and they ****ing crushed USC's front 9. Not front 7, front 9.

    Gashers all day.

Stanford is a very good team and program. It wasn't an upset today. SC lost a whole lot of players last year, but the loss of five coaches (incl. to two Coordinators) made their slow demise unsurprising.

Stanford's QB is a freshman, so I don't think Spond would see the field until Sr. yr. unless he redshirts. But waiting until your a Junior is a long time for QB's.

this is the first game stanford has won on the road against a good team, though. maybe a turning point.

I think many folks considered it a turning point when Stanford won in the Collisseum two years ago.

    FWIW....

Stanford is the most physical team I've seen in the Pac-10 this year.

Harbaugh is a great college coach. They are sitting on the (Scout) #12 recruiting class in the nation right now.

But, Harbaugh will not be there too long. It's Stanford, after all. And not all of their recruits will qualify. I don't ever seeing them being a dynasty or perennial power.

Stanford, Arizona, Oregon State and Oregon can still win the Pac. It's great to see it so up in the air with only a couple of weeks to go... Let's just keep the Ducks 70+ year Rose Bowl drought continue for at least another year :smile2:

I think most thought that was more flukish, although still a turning point for a program that had been so down. This season, they have proven themselves, but didn't have a quality road win until today.

By "drought" you mean they haven't WON a RB for 70 years?

Because they were there as recently as '94 (lost to Penn State).

Harbaugh is impressing me. Just proves you can get the job done at program with tough academic qualifications.

You can have a passing game that sets up the run. However, your OL needs to pass block and you have to have sure handed TEs and WRs.

Geer dropped 6 passes today. Simas had a solid day. I'm sure we were spotty in pass protection, as we have been for the past 2 games (now 3). It all starts up front and it's easier to run block than pass block so there's no reason why we can't rush the ball well.

    Except for bad coaching.

Is 3 losses and a 30 point loss at home enough for the NCAA to finally bring justice to USC?

    :yeahthat:

Stanford and USC are now both 7-3, yet USC will probably continue to ride on previous years reputations.

I think you mean STANFORD'S Rose Bowl Drought. Oregon has been there recently and got pasted by Penn State. I don't believe Arizona has ever been there.

Yeah ... I said something remarkably similar to that a few posts above. But it isn't Stanford who has a 70 year drought either. They were there in the 1972 Rose Bowl (after the '71 season) with Jim Plunkett ... beat Michigan. :sad2:

You're right ... UA is the only Pac 10 school to never go to a RB. However .. one should remember that they (and ASU) didn't join the Pac 10 (which of course was at the time the Pac 8) until 1978.

Luck is VERY good. That guy will be an NFL QB. The TD pass he threw to his tight end was a thirty yard frozen rope right on the money.
