SONOMA, Calif. — The University of Colorado men’s golf team turned in the fourth best team score in the final round, but overall could not make up any ground in the standings and tied for sixth here Tuesday in the Alister Mackenzie Invitational.
Host and No. 4-ranked California cruised to the team win, lighting things up from the get-go. The Bears were essentially on cruise control Tuesday, turning in for them a pedestrian 4-under 284 team score for a final tally of 825, some 39-under par. That easily outdistanced runner-up UC-Davis, which posted the best final round score of 277 (11-under), and yet was still 22 strokes off the lead at 847. Oregon State finished third (850), with Arizona State and Brigham Young tying for fourth (851).
