Good props by Sandy on 104.3 the Fan this morning.

Attendance is just one measure. College basketball and particularly the Buffs are shown to a wider audience than the Mammoth and lax. Plus the fact there's message boards like this, there's a clear interest. How many people on Twitter are talking about the Mammoth?

Right, which would lead me to conclude that these factors play a larger part in why Colorado basketball is being discussed on local sports talk radio.

Wonder how much it has to do with the Buffs being on an ESPN channel multiple times and included in the highlights with regularity.

Number of different factors including attendance, TV coverage of games, Tourney participation, local players. Also doesn't hurt that the normal time allocated this time of year to Nuggets playoff talk is up for grabs with them out of it. Also some Bronco depression, after the SB some people just want a break from the NFL talk.

And yes Tad makes it very easy for them to devote time to the program that they didn't before. He's a good interview and a good story.

They're not in the national highlights with regularity. They should be on the local highlights regardless of how they're doing particularly now with the Broncos out of season -- maybe that wasn't always the case. Last night they didn't make it on SC despite it being televised on ESPNU. The only guarantee they'll be on SC is if they're playing a top-25 team.

and yet we have a segment that believes being ranked is useless

The local guys covered basketball pretty well last year at this time as well. I hate defending them, but they HAD to focus on the Broncos for their Super Bowl run, disaster, and aftermath. Now the sports nation almost solely focuses on NCAA basketball. The Buffs now have national cred and the local sports shows will compete to bring Buffs coverage. This isn't new since CU and even csu have become national players.

Also, maybe Sandy is hoping to get on ESPN for an interview, (Half joking. He's been interviewed before by the national guys.)

"You had that look in your eyes like you wanted to eat someone's children"

Regarding the intensity in Tad's eyes in some of the close up shots from the ASU game.

Did anybody keep it on after Tad's segment? They had Rob Schneider on, and it was just the three idiots from the Fan trying to be comedians. Truly painful to listen to. Those guys are absolute morons.

I guess I wasn't as offended as you.
