I was watching the Diamond League Track and Field Meet from Paris earlier this afternoon, and it was another great day for a couple former Buffs, both just coming off winning National Titles in last weekend's U.S. Championships, AND both still coached by CU coaches Mark Wetmore and Heather Burroughs:

1) Emma Coburn set the pace most of the race and finished 2nd in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:14.12, ~3 seconds better than her previous personal best set a month or so ago and only ~1-3/4 seconds off the American Record of Jenny Simpson. (Per some statistician's tweet I read, Ms. Coburn now holds the 2nd-5th best American times all time for this event.)

2) Jenny Simpson also ran an incredible race in her current event the 1500 meter, setting the pace most of the way en route to also finishing 2nd in a time 3:57.22, only (an agonizingly close) 0.1 seconds off the 31 YEAR OLD U.S. record held by former Buff Mary Decker Slaney.

GREAT JOB BY BOTH YOUNG WOMEN, AND HOPE THEY GET THOSE AMERICAN RECORDS THIS YEAR!!!

Here's Emma Coburn's tweet after the meet-
