    Per Kyle Ringo at Scout.com.

It's a premium article, but it pretty much says he's interviewed for the USF D-Coordinator position. :sad2:

I don't blame anyone for wanting him as DC.

I'm split. I like the fact that our asst. coaches are being pursued. But it would suck to lose Greg. Especially at this moment. I'd much rather see him leave CU a winner.

Feel the same way, seems like a perfect DC type, not really a recruiter but a good coach with a solid gameplan. I would be scared for our secondary if we lost him.

He (or more deservingly, Cabral) should already be CU's D Coordinator. Collins serves no purpose on the current staff. He cant recruit, Brown designs most of the game day defense, and Cabral is head and shoulders a better LB coach than Collins (he was DC and LB coach at Boise under Hawkins).

I cant blame Irv's son for leaving for an upgrade..he was a decent "buff" (for what its worth, he coached 2 jim thorpe winners at CU), but the thing that sucks is when Brown leaves, Ambrose goes with him. Ambrose has 0 ties to CU other than Brown, who was his positions coach with the New Orleans Saints....Collins is an albatros on the program and his current position is stoping more qualified candidates from taking over (Brown: 2 thorpe winners and NFL experience. Cabral: one of the best LB coaches in the nation) which would lead to their predecessors from taking over and providing a boost in recruiting (Ambrose: DBs coach or Sykes LB coach....both dynamic personalities who would recruit lights out).

can't fault a guy for wanting a better job and the opportunity to work on Leavitt's staff. that's a good career move. that said, losing Greg would be a drag for us.

I'm a little perplexed by most of the staff, but GB is solid. the DB's you can point to as a position group that more often than not seemed to play sound, scheme football. In my amateurish opinion. not helped much last year by the lack of a pass rush, but they played pretty well most of the time.

Why would Ambrose go with him? Does USF have two assistant positions open?

Slow down there, hoss. Brown isn't gone yet.

If he goes, who says Ambrose doesn't get his job? Isn't Sykes in line to be recruiting coordinator? I'm all for a few more African American assistant coaches in Boulder. Don't let all that negativity cloud your vision.

:sad2: This would royally suck. Man, we are still rebuilding, we cant be f-in losing our assts! This school needs to f-in pay these guys more and have them on multi year contracts. While there's pros and cons ton that, we will continue to lose guys, especially after CU is a power again. Everyone likes job security.

I agree with this statement, but CU cannot be paying our position coaches what a D-coordinator is making.

I honestly think that Brown is our best position coach. He has worked wonders with some of our players, and I think we have limited talent currently in the secondary. This isn't a knock on the players, as I think some of them have lots of potential, but there is no freak of nature - ala Ben Kelly, Figures, etc. These guys really could use Brown to instruct them and bring out their best, like he did Wheatley, and others.

Well like it or not, CU needs to invest if they want success. If they cant keep up with at least the middle of the Big XII then perhaps its time for a move. I'm a diehard Buff fan, but crying to non-BCS teams about us playing in the BigXII and how "superior" we are when we are finishing near the bottom is nothng to brag about at all. Utah, BYU, Boise St, TCU, and a handful of other non-BCS school can kick our ass, but if you want to consistently be succesful in the Big XII you not only need talented players, but talented coaches. Brown's departure would certainly be felt, and will hurt CU's rebuilding process. CU needs to pay its asst coaches at least at the mid-average of the conference.

Ron Collins did a horrible job. I mean finishing 4th in the conference in Total Defense is a joke. Fire this man now.

4th in total defense which is suprising. 9th in rush defense and 8th in scoring defense. Pass defense was 1st, thanks brown and ambrose!

Rushing defense and scoring defense are big concerns.

Not that I am Collins' biggest fan by any stretch, but he hasn't gotten much help two of his three years from the offense. We have been one of the worst offenses in the country those two years. The one year we were halfway decent on offense, we made a bowl game.

    Coincidence? Doubtful.

The biggest issue on Defense is tackling. Nobody seemed to want to do that last season.

 Right, scoring defense doesn't matter. Nevermind, I just like getting you riled up and do this knowing every CU coach in your mind is awesome :smile2:

Tackling is another concern, see we agree. Need our LB'S to make more plays although Mohler was everywhere last year.

Right. The areas that we were successful on D couldn't be the D coordinator. Quick find someone else to give the credit to. Brown! there ya go.

Definitely. We weren't particularly fast in the front seven either.

Not at all, defense gets worn out but I would think you thought our rush defense and our front 7 would be better with hypolite and nik anchoring the dl.

    He's great at pass defense.
