I hope not but I found this in Bruce Feldman's blog:

" Don't be surprised if Auburn coach Gene Chizik doesn't try to hire Colorado O-line coach Jeff Grimes, whom I heard the new Tigers coach is very impressed with.":sad2:

Imo he is one of the Buffs best assistants. I hope we can keep him. Go Buffs

I hope we can keep him too but I am sure that Auburn can throw more money at him then CU can.

I was a little concerned with Grimes for a short while, but a lot of young guys improved over the season when they were thrown in there. My major concern was with the overall redesign of the offense that emerged last spring. It was poorly designed and even more poorly implemented.
As of now I'm pretty pleased with Grimes and hope he doesn't go. I wouldn't be too bothered if a certain other coach went elsewhere.

I sure hope he stays. Colorado could use some stability for a couple years.

Mixed feelings on this issue. Grimes has done a lot of things very well. The '07 season was impressive to me because he just did not have that many bodies to work with on the OL. Last year was hard to judge because the offensive scheme seemed like a flawed design from the get-go. The spread isn't goiong tob e effective without a QB who is a running threat, or a strong armed passer who can make things happen over the middle. Someone who can do both is preferrable. CU had neither most of the season. So it is hard to judge the OL, and if you throw in injureis and academic casualties, it is near impossible.

I hate to see him leave just because I think continuity is a good thing in general. We'll see. Having somebody else looking at hiring your staff is a good thing.

Not when it's the school that hired Iowa State's unproven head coach!

For what it's worth, I'm a big fan of Grimes'. My opinion was mostly formed by Polumbuses' endorsement, but you gotta admit, our young, inexperienced line improved weekly after the injuries to Miller and MTM.

Not only is Grimes a solid position coach, he is also the only coach on the staff with significant recruiting ties to Texas. He would be missed.

Why wouldn't Grimes stick around for another couple of years, and reap the benefit from his line getting more experienced? His market value will be higher, certainly higher than Auburn.

Anybody know Bruce Feldman's alma mater? Oregon maybe?

why would a coach go to a school that hired a HC with a losing record. I doubt Chizik will last more than a year or two.

Generally, I think it is a good sign when your assts. are getting bona fide interest from other BCS schools. Auburn, I agree, is a time bomb waiting to explode, though, and I don't know why Grimes would go unless it is $$$$$$.

I didn't get a chance to see much of Auburn. We stayed there when I was working on a project in Tuskegee. It seemed OK, but not even close to a match for Boulder. However, if it comes down to dollars and cents, given salary and cost of living, we could be in trouble if they come after him.

If I'm going to turn into an Auburn hater like 96, I figured I should talk like him too.

Its just some ESPN douche starting a groundless rumor, like they always do. Why would Grimes even be interested? So he can get fired in two years? Who would anybody in their right mind leave a program on the way up for a mess like auburn with a head coach who went 5-19 at Iowa State?

What exactly constitutes a "program on the rise"?...and just how, besides your name, does it pertain to CU? Donations? Fan Support? Wins??

5-19 at ISU is not relevant to his ability.

Why is it that we never seem to be able to keep an OL coach for more than 2-3 years? (a decent one anyway).

    '98, '99 Cable
    00, 01 Marshall
    02, 03, 04, 05 Borbley (sucked ass)
    06 Chris Strausser
    07, 08 Grimes
    09 ???

If Grimes leaves that would mean that the senior Olinemen this year would be on their 4th Oline coach in 5 years. :wow:

I keep wondering how much of our O line troubles over the last decade has to do with the fact that our O linemen keep getting new coaches every year or two which forces them to constantly learn new techniques and/or a new system. Each coach bringing their own philosphy and set of things to emphasize to the Oline group but never staying long enough for the lessons to be fully learned and perfected before the next guy steps in and changes it all up again. With all that churn no wonder our Olines never seem to "gell".
