Colorado has had to of made more friggin position moves than any other team in the country. It's ridiculous.
I can't claim to understand the whole story, but it seems we've got quite a lot of talent on the O-line just waiting to be developed.
Is it better to augment it with a physically developed D-lineman than to wait for the talent to get coached up? Obviously the staff believes so, but it sends off a couple of bells and whistles in my head.
EDIT: Maybe we should take this as a good sign that our coaches have developed the D-line personnel so quickly. Good luck convincing Syko that we've got enough depth on the defensive side of the trench, however.
Goree says "...I'm not mentally ready" when he explains his lack of use this season on D-Line.
Huh? A freshman with no D-line experience takes his place, and has been the starter this season, but Goree with experience says he's "not mentally ready". I'm not sure which way this one spins fastest, but 'spin it does'.
I'm glad the walk-on program is so great that they can take over the Center position and hold it. I don't like seeing that concussion issue brought up on O-linemen, though. The Center can't really do too much about how defenders take pot-shots at him.
Maybe he's just not a very good D lineman. I think its only natural for a guy to move to the other side if that's the case.
remember #74 in 04? He made the switch and was an effective DL before moving to OL right before the season started. OL position requires good feet and a mean streak which seems to be lacking on this years OL.
"Not very good" is certainly one explanation. I'm glad this coaching staff is good enough to evaluate that much. Too bad they couldn't see that before recruiting him, too bad they can't improve his skill set.
Of course, when he was apparently a flop last year on the O-line, maybe they think they've got such a much better ability to teach those skills now?
Well... we'll all be looking for these results, too.
good point about the mean streak required. Can't recall the OL depth issues in '04, was that the reason for the move? I think, on paper now, that the Buffs are not lacking OL depth like that have in the immediate past; however, its probably still not up to where most people think it should be.
He is not seeing the field as Pericek just keeps improving each week. Also, appears they are trying to find some more help at OG. Might be another issue with one of the OL as they also speak of Iltis working in at guard. It seems that Denver isn't too keen on Bahr and Behrens as these guys started most of last year.... I keep wondering if they are healthy.
I believe so, when Clint O'Neal was your best tackle that year you might have a problem.
, but man his mom was ten kinds of hell as a poster. I forget where I saw her post, but Nan, I believe her name was, was something else...
wow she was a real tool, prolly the worst part of my experience with CU FB. I made the mistake of giving her my phone number before I knew what she was like. Thank God for caller ID
:wow:I can only imagine...
I think Ol Nan liked hitting the bottle and ramblin to whoerver would listen. Ouch
What would you know about that TBD?
If he's not mentally ready to play DL (his own words) he's all of a sudden ready to play ol? We are going into game 6 and these coaches act as if it's summer tryouts.
I don't care what they do anymore.
#74 was my all time fav buff for obvious reasons.
He was a good one.
I like him better on DL when he was #90
I will never forget his catch and run on the old tackle eligible play. If I remember correctly that clinched the game.
Kansas State. A favorite highlight.
Syko, your comments about "Game 6 and he's not mentally ready for one side, but is considered for the other?" echo my astonishment, too.
"Maybe Goree's no good" seems like the most positive way to spin this, sad to say. There sure are a lot of albatrosses strung around a few necks. This staff makes me wonder if they're all Wylie Coyote, ordering parts from ACME catalogs. "How ya likin' those rocket skates, Dan?"
Well, gosh, seeing as we're so deep and talented along the DL and so thin at OL, this seems like an awesome idea.
I think the sack of El Robertson on K St's last drive sealed it, only game I missed :sad1:
Wonder if the move means they're anticipating some transfers on the line?
