This is what he says when asked about the talent level of the Mac and how it compares to the MWC and Wac, etc.

about 7 minutes in on cubuffs.com

I just chuckled at that quote. What a way to play football. I fear everyone.

Way to rally the troops coach. Cowering in fear is clearly the way to go!

Also said it was hard to get in a rythm...no s***.

He also said it took longer to get plays in to the huddle because McKnight was out of the game?!?! WTF? Doesn't the QB read the signals? Is McKnight calling the play in the huddle too???

Can you imagine someone like Stoops, Brown, Mangino or Pelini saying that?

    Me neither.

I pretty sure Hawk was refering to McKnight being out causing personnel issues meaning who was ready to replace him on the field and that making the plays take longer to get in. Ive seen them do both in the past send it in from the sideline and signal it in. That being said it should not be happening as much as it did. I dont give a f*ck how the play gets in, just line up, actually put some points on the board, and f*cking win some games. Last but not least, get DScott, Speedy, and Lockridge the fu*cking rock with a big emphasis on DScott and put Sumler at fb where he belongs.

Seriously, this is all anyone should need to hear in order to convince him that Hawkins is not capable of doing this thing.

The underlying fact behind this quote is that plays are assigned to specific personnel groups (something that a lot of us question).

    So...

When Scotty went out, the wide receivers were in disarray because they did not who replaced Scotty in which personnel groups for which plays. This caused delays getting personnel into the game and lined up correctly and led to burning timeouts that cost us at the end of the game. It also led to an inability of the QB, O-line, WRs, RBs, and TEs to make their pre-snap reads. It further led to the defensive line of CSU being able to jump the snap count.

Dan Hawkins is the mastermind behind the personnel group philosophy.

Dan Hawkins is also the position coach for the wide receivers who was completely unprepared for the contingency of Scotty getting hurt.

    Do the math, people.

    I must not fear.
    Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
    I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
    Only I will remain.

if you read a transcript of that presser, a lot of the answer simply don't make sense.

he starts to give an example of a helmet-helmet play from last year to demonstrate the new criteria for the penalty and then says "i didn't really watch that game". wha?

and the more he talks about what happens in the offices, they sure are trying to accomplish a lot of things and rarely does it seem that one of those things is actually football. i want to believe they'll bounce back and take care of business this week, but the overall "we're making this thing up as we go along" vibe that haunted year 1, overall Hawk sidelines experience, and the switching of offenses is coming to the fore again.

Still, the fact that McKnight wasn't in there should have very little if anything to do with the plays getting in on time. What, does the offense center around him? The only time this might make sense is if it was you're starting QB who went down during the game, and even then the delays should only last a few plays. That comment from Hawk just didn't make any sense. And like many other things, getting the snap off at the last second is hardly a new problem for this team.

He seemed very uncomfortable and nervous at the press conference, is he always like that? I haven't noticed it in the past, but maybe I just wasn't paying close enough attention.

Just curious, is anyone going to show up at 7:00 tonight at the Boulder Draft House to grill Hawk on his 850 KOA call-in show? Call in # (303) 713-8585

Why should anyone waste their time? No one here coaches college football. They just don't get it...

I didn't realize you had to coach collage fooball to ask a football question. Not that Hawk would tell anyone what they wanted to hear in the first place.

According to Hawk (and little Hawk), if you're not a coach you just don't understand what is going on.

I doubt that's up to Hawks standards. Hell, if you were a current college coach, he'd probably come at you with "you don't coach Colorado football"

I want someone to ask the question Slade posted that someone asked Blake at OU:

"Coach, how much are they paying you to coach this team and where do you think you will be coaching next year? I'll hang up and listen to your response."

    :thumbsup::thumbsup::lol::lol:

If anyone should get past the call screener, I'm guessing in order to get a "straight" answer out of Hawkins on this show. One should consider asking questions that need only be answered by a yes, or a no.

In the press conference he was asked (rather timidly, it seemed) if DS was gonna get more carries and Hawk just gave a quick "Yup" answer and then looked around waiting for the next question, kind of like he was evading the question as much as he could.

Yeah, that's Hack standard now. Mono-syllabic answers will satisfy everyone, because how dare the media, the fans, the boosters, the families and anyone else ask the almighty zen guru anything and expect an actual straight forward thoughtful answer.

Really said that? Because, ummm, those sound like excuses...

I didn't listen, but the thread topic sounds like he was just trying to say he takes everyone seriously, but did it badly (double entendre intended).

My son was telling me that he thought Hawkins looked physically sick at the end of the game...trying to get through the crowd to Fairchild, then into the locker room...he said he looked pale and that it seemed he wanted to throw up.
