Sheep fans wont be happy to read Woelks column this morning.

Do you agree or disagree with what he has to say? Do we need to start seeing it on the field before our local columnist starts talking like this?

I don't see it as that inflammatory. Granted that does not mean the shumpers (sheep humpers) won't get their collective panties all twisted.

Right on target. I have been of the opinion CSU peaked in '02 and has been sliding ever since.

I certainly don't see it as inflammatory either. The article focused mainly on CU Woelk knows the program as well as anyone, and as for the lammies he was just pointing out the recent mediocrity of that team.

Their record would certainly support that assertion. Last winning season for them was a paltry 7-6 in 2003, down from 10-4 in 2002 and followed up with 4-7, 6-6 and 4-8 since 2003.

hmmm, sure has changed his tune from about a month ago when he was raggiing on CU for the bubble/Indoor facility and CSU having the upper hand.

Whatever though, its his opinion, we will see what happens on the field.

Because he is a homer jag off and on the eve of the season opener he is drinking the kool aid too?

In one post you point out that he was all over CU for it's lack of facilities, in the next you call him a homer jag off.

    So which is it?

Woelk is the best sports columnist in the state. When CU is screwing up, he has no problem pointing it out. That's hardly being a "homer jag off". I have it on good authority that he's been offered positions with both the Rocky and the Post and has turned them down.

Well, first of all, I was being a bit facisious (sp?). But I was saying he was being critical a month or two ago, but now that the season is ready to kick off he has his Buffie shades on, thats all.

Sure, we all do this time of year. You think someone like Natalie Meisler is nice and objective? Hardly.

I think his assessment is pretty level headed. I live in FC and the local sports writers here and unfreaking believable. Tony Phifer (Opie) tries to pump up the locals with tales of glory about the CSU practices, but lacks objectivity when comparing them to their competition. Todays article was a great example. I see Sonny almost daily. He is a good guy, but he needed to get rid of some coaches last year; he didn't because he is loyal coach. I think he will step down soon even though he said earlier this year that he is committed to the long haul; he has to to keep the recruits on the hook.

Anyway, I think Hawk is great. I like what he stands for, and i think he will have the ship righted in the next year or two.

    go buffs

I have to agree with you regarding the coaches. Granted, it's difficult to fire an O-coordinator whose wife just died of cancer. Sonny hasn't really ever fired anyone, though, as far as I can tell. Dave Lay back as "co-offensive coordinator" (I hate those kinds of shared roles) should help us if he has a lot of influence.

When the Rams were good they could win battles at the line of scrimmage.. Its been awhile since the RAMS could actually run the ball on us...I know they are touting Kyle Bell being back as the savior but I would be surprised if he had much impact on the game tomorrow.. CSU needs to throw the football to their receivers and Sperry to win the game tomorrow..

Also, they are much slower on defense too especially in the front seven..

your staff has had more than it's fair share of hardship IMO. Didn't Sonny's son (a member of your staff) have cancer a couple of years ago as well? I think there's a message there - living in Fort Fun gives you cancer.

okay, that's wrong but I'm drunk...

seriously, you do seem to have had more hardship on your staff than usual.
