If MacIntyre brings Kent Baer (his DC at SJSU) with him, thoughts?

Hmmmm, I had assumed their DC was probably a MacIntyre guy, but it looks like Baer was a holdover from the prior staff.

He's got a ton of DC experience at the D-1 level. OTOH, he managed to go from DC at Notre Dame to LB coach at San Jose St. (pre-rebuilding) in 4 years. That's a concern. I'd have to look at his results more closely, but I think I'd like to see us look for better options before we just brought him in...

I'd love to see significant improvement at our coordinator spots w/ proven BCS experience. We have the $ now. We should also be strategic if possible about roots for recruiting. E.g. Would love Neal Brown from Texas Tech as our OC.

On paper he has some great experience, but his wikipedia page says this:

When Willingham accepted an offer from the University of Washington to be the new head coach, he brought Baer along to serve as defensive coordinator, as he had at Notre Dame. At the conclusion of the 2007 season, after a statistically worst defensive season in UW football history, Willingham decided to let Baer go. In the three years at UW, the defense ranked 94, 95 and 98 in total defense, 89, 85 and 94 in scoring defense, and 106, 102 and 85 in passing defense.

Pass...
