If we had played the Fresno State game...

I bet the following:
1.) Margin of defeat would have been worse against Fresno than today's result
2.) We would still have lost today but I bet we would have played much better b/c:
-similar teams so we could have learned from our mistakes against Fresno and had a better game plan
-we would not have been so rusty on offense to start the game

Thoughts?

We would have lost to Fresno without a doubt. Being at home may have prevented a total slaughter but it would have been a comfortable win for them in the end. It would have led to less rust today and probably not quite as bad a margin of defeat.

Bottom line, we did not play well today. If we play like this against anybody, we're getting our teeth kick in. If we play closer to our ceiling, we absolutely could hang with the Fresno's of the world. Today wasn't about needing to get the bad losses out of our system or the layoff; we just were a mess all around. Better days will come but guys have to execute.
