The Athletic Department has an opening for Head Football Coach. The purpose of this position is to manage the varsity football program. The position oversees the daily operation of the unit, including supervision of assistant coaches, administrative support and student-athletes and coordinates unit interaction with campus, department and community groups.

Job Responsibilities:
Coaching: Direct and coordinate the activities of the Football Staff in the planning, organizing and coaching of the University of Colorado football team ensuring compliance with University, Pac-12 Conference and NCAA policies and regulations. Schedule and conduct regular practice sessions in and out of season, as permitted by NCAA rules and regulations. Coach the team during scheduled events. Determine and implement the strategies necessary to motivate players to maximum levels of individual and team performance.

Recruitment: Coordinate eligibility checks to ensure prospective student-athletes qualify for grants-in-aid and admission by the Registrar. Responsible for all contact with prospective student-athletes to avoid violations of recruiting rules and regulations.

Student-Athlete Development: The Head Coach is responsible for creating an atmosphere and culture that is a reflection of the missions of both the Athletic Department and the University. A positive student-athlete experience, both on and off the field is a number one priority of the coaching staff and administration. This includes, but is not limited to, monitoring academic performance including graduation rates, and class attendance. The Head Coach will work closely with the Associate Athletics Director for Student Services to monitor the scholastic progress of each student-athlete. Assist with enforcement of the mandatory study program for the freshmen and upperclassmen having academic difficulties. The Head Coach is also responsible for the behavior and appearance of student-athletes and managers under his/her direction while they are representing the institution. The Head Coach will counsel team members in academic, disciplinary and personal matters; consult with University administration and faculty for timely resolution of problems as required.

Community Outreach: Represent the University Athletic Department in professional, alumni, civic, and charitable events. The Head Coach is expected to participate in campus activities to promote the Football Program and the Department of Athletics. Maintain positive working relationship with departmental media relations staff.

Personnel Management: In consultation with the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, the Head Coach will direct various personnel functions including, but not limited to hiring, supervising, and actively participating in the annual merit evaluations and recommendations. The Head Coach will also assist in the management of football staff's vacation schedules and reporting to ensure that University rules and procedures are met.

Summer Football Camps: In collaboration with and under the direction and management of the staff of the Athletic Department, offer an annual football camp for participation by young athletes.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Proven experience in recruiting and retaining football student athletes
- Successful experience in coaching football as a collegiate Head Coach or Assistant Coach in a Division I institution or related NFL coaching experience
- Demonstrated experience and record of complying with NCAA regulations and policies

Essential Qualities: The ideal candidate should possess the following qualities or demonstrate prior experience in the following areas: ability to effectively organize, communicate, and coordinate all football program matters with others, particularly with the athletic administration and student-athletes; ability to successfully recruit and retain highly skilled student-athletes for the football program; ability to effectively teach fundamentals and strategies of football during practice sessions and to successfully coach games; ability to effectively counsel student-athletes on requirements for personal conduct, academic performance, and athletic participation including good sportsmanship; ability to drive student athletes or other students to team activities and/or athletic events; ability to prepare and maintain accurate records and reports, particularly athletic budget, eligibility, compliance, and academic items.
 
I thought you had to have a masters to be head coach. Well I guess I should apply.

Posting Description Under the general direction of the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, this position provides broad professional level support and is responsible to act as a direct liaison between numerous constituent groups associated with the administration of the Athletic Department. This position supervises selected sport programs, which may include football operations, and special projects as assigned by the Athletic Director. This position serves on the Senior Staff and may represent the Athletic Director in their absence.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Adminstrative/Supervision

Advises the Athletic Director in all matters pertaining to internal operations within the Athletic Department including strategic planning and selected program oversight. Includes monitoring of compliance and integration to Athletic Department, University, State, and Pac-12 Conference policies and procedures.

Researches, studies and analyzes Athletic Department operations including matters related to coaches' contracts and human resources. Prepares detailed and comprehensive reports of findings, provides recommendations, and implements procedural or policy changes.

Promotes effective communication with numerous constituent groups both internally and externally to the Athletic Department. Acts as a liaison with University Counsel, campus and University administration, Board of Regents, and Pac-12 Conference administration.

Manages agreements with media rights holder and related partners to include TV, radio, and other revenue producing entities.

Participates in financial and capital planning deliberations.

Plans, programs, and executes initiatives and special projects directed by the Athletic Director. Ensures that all special projects are actively moving forward by monitoring assigned personnel and programs including: facility upgrades, integration with various campus organizations, and customer service initiatives.

University & Community Relations

Interprets and communicates decisions and policies of the Athletic Director as appropriate to user groups that need assistance, support, or visionary leadership.

Provides campus outreach and actively interacts to resolve problems addressed to the Athletic Director from all elements of the University of Colorado including: the CU Board of Regents, CU System Office (including the President's office), Boulder Faculty Assembly, Schools and Colleges, UCSU, CU Foundation, students, student-athletes, and faculty and staff.

Represents the Athletic Director in his/her absence as a representative to the Board of Regents or CU System Office, Serves as a point of contact for campus faculty, staff and students as well as staff and administration.
