This is crazy. Most of you were adamant that a "CU guy" get the job. Now a CU guy has been given the job and all I see is a bunch of bitching. HYPOCRITES!!!!

I regret hitting "view post" on that one, DBT. You put a smiley face on the end, but you're not joking.

Sorry the only family I wanted was Eric B. I didn't want Mac and I had no idea that Embree would even be considered. Talk to Bohn-head and the committee.

I'll say this: I believe it but was saying it with a smile on my face like you would if you took a good hearted jab at a friend.
But I just think its ironic to see a lot of upsetness out there when so many of us wanted a CU guy. Well, if thats what we wanted, how many choices were there? I think it really boiled down to two: EB and JE. It looks very likely that we will get both, just not in the hierarchy that most wanted. As I said, I don't know enough about JE to have a strong opinion.

I also see people who said we didn't need a "in the family" hire now praising the embree hire. Works both ways blue-hair.

CU guy as in MAC or EB.

How many people had embree on their list of choices? His name wasn't even touted here until a few days ago and now he's the savior?

Whatever, who knows who's coach or who is on the staff, bunch of bs from everyone who's 'in the know".

DBT stop bitching and smell the roses for a bit. there will always be someone who complains no matter the out come, you cant take it so seriously.

I'm gonna really stretch the possibilities here DBT...

    What if...

A lot of people wanted an "in family hire" but now a bunch of different people are complaining? Are you certain they are the same people?

Or maybe, people wanted a different "in family hire". Logan would technically be in family, would it be hypocracy if people complained if he were named?

Exactly. I don't remember one poster bringing up Embree as a candidate for the job. I've seen Cabral posters, Mac and Eric B ones but didn't remember seeing one Embree post.

Embree has a better resume, brings a slightly better proposed staff, has the support of Mac (don't forget he's identified great coaches in the past like Miles and Caldwell) and brings EB with him anyway. I get it if you still want EB because you think he's got a higher ceiling (Mac doesn't seem to think so) or because you think he's a better motivator but to love or even like an EB hire and hate a JE hire really doesn't make much sense logically.

Until it's announced eb will be on staff and this "great staff" is confirmed, I do question this hire. Again, his name hasn't been spoke of yet know he's a great hire, whatever.

I'll buy that. Valid point. But I've sure read a lot of negative posts.

Here's the deal, I have no clue if Embree is a good or bad hire. So, it kind of amazes me how many folks think or are even sure that its a bad hire. How come I'm one of a few that just don't know? Apparently, most of you guys have been following Embree a lot closer than I have.

Dunno. It sounds like his interview blew the committee away. Who's to say he wouldn't have done that at another school. But your point is well taken.

What other college would hire EB? He's in Minnesota's back yard and they passed. EB got offered the OC job at USC with no play calling duties just like JE got offered the Oregon OC job under Kelly originally with no play calling duties. Seems to me they are held in pretty similar esteem by the coaching community.

Hey, I thought the importance of getting someone from the CU "family" was over-rated, so I can bitch all I want.

This should be everyone's response pretty much anytime a new coach is hired. Hiring is such a crapshoot at times (Pete Carroll was something like USC's 6th choice) that no one is ever a guarantee. Personally I'm just excited for recruiting to pick back up.

People would have bitched about anyone CU would have hired. People would have bitched even if Jesus himself was named coach. (I'm looking at you Buffnik :smile2:)

Well, like all of us, I had hoped for a "WOW!!!" hire and, clearly, Embree isn't that. My biggest disappointment in the entire process was the lack of "name" candidates. But, when you think of it, CU was not really in a position to wait for the big name guy to come available. So, here we sit. A mish mash of opinions going into the off season. Not one of us can say for sure how this will turn out. Our first inkling will be when the staff is set. Our second will be how the top recruits respond. Will we jump onto their "interested" list? Third will be signing day, 8 weeks away. Then two months from there, spring training. Then a little over 4 months to csu. So, boys and girls, strap on your seat belts, yet another wild and wooly offseason on Allbuffs awaits!! :rofl2:
