That's how he led off his post-game comments.

He went on to say that when you play a 3-14 team on you home court on senior day... and you let them shoot 51% in the 2nd half while also out-rebounding you by 8... that you get exactly what you deserve.

He said it's on him for not having the team ready to play today.

And he apologized to the fans along with the seniors for delivering that kind of effort.

He closed by talking about how this team has it in them to dig down and beat anyone but that they also play to the level of their competition and it's an open question whether they have it in their guts to win 4 games in 4 days like last year's team. But the focus is on winning 1 game on Wednesday, then taking it from there.

'Nuff said. He hit the nail on the head.

Tad made quite the effort to repeatedly apologize for this game. He knows it was on him. Its a good sign, I think, that the coach holds himself that accountable. Time to step it up and take it to em in vegas

This is why Tad is such a treasure for this program. Love hearing these words from the HC

An apology was in order. That game was agonizing to watch.

Pull it together for Vegas, baby. All will be forgiven.

I did not watch. No ****ing P12 network on UVerse. Love that Tad apologized. He is a stand up guy. Terrific for the program. But he is squeezing everything that he possibly can from this team. He has nothing to apologize for....

The reality is, with this team, we will have games like this, like Utah, like ASU. What is great about Tad is that these games are only every five games or so. Bitch.

He did pretty much what I expected him to do. Didn't CU learn a lesson from Indiana? Don't wait til after the game to honor the Seniors. Think were still in as of now, winning on Wed would ensure it happens IMO. Nonetheless, terrible way to go out on Senior Day.

Did he mention the ****** clock management at the end that he was in charge of or just not having his team ready?

Hasn't Tad made this speech about 3 times this year?

Edit: I love Tad. Never mistake my frustration motivated posts to mean I don't love the guy. He's still growing into this as well. I'll bet he is going to have a tough time sleeping tonight. ROLL TAD!!

Love that Tad takes responsibility. The fact that he does and that he is so respected by his players means that while he takes the public blame they will take the responsibility to heart without him having to grind them in it and them losing interest in his message.

DBT mentions Tad not sleeping well tonight which may be true. On the other hand he has been through this and worse before so he may mentally file it, process it, and move on.

The fact that "their coach" is doing this though will likely inspire some of the players to spend a sleepless night considering the part they had in the loss. In the end a much bigger impact than anything Tad could have said to them.

Hey Tad what happened to we expect to win? Did the team forget they still need to put out the effort. Stop apologizing and win the PAC 12 tourney.

We're going to beat Oregon State on Wednesday and make a little noise in the Pac-12 Tournament.

However. If the team doesn't learn the lesson from this game and loses again, then I will have zero sympathy for whatever happens on Selection Sunday. It's entirely up to them. CU can beat Oregon State any time they so choose to put forth the necessary effort, focus and guts.

I think all this stuff about Tad, and motivation, and lack of defensive effort is horse****. We held them to 43% shooting and 64 points. For most teams, that's a fine defensive effort. A decent offensive effort wins this game. This loss, like so many this year, is squarely on our backcourt, who can't hit the broadside of a barn from beyond 15 feet. Sure, Ski does a lot of little things to make up for atrocious shooting, but it's just not enough anymore. He's not in a slump. He's simply a bad shooter. And has no conscience. He's not going to shoot his way out of this. He's tried the entire conference season, and he must be about 30%. And Dinwiddie isn't much better. He gets fouled more, yes, but hasn't been a dangerous jump shooter all conference season. I'd like to see Chen and Adams take about 75% of Ski's shots. We'd have a better chance. Dinwiddie isn't anywhere near ready for the pros, and Booker might be #9 on our bench next year.

The scary thing is, with the state of the bubble, we very well might make it in in that situation (Lunardi is the most negative on CU of any bracketologist, and Lunardi is very much mid-range accuracy of the 93 or so bracketologists out there). We certainly wouldn't deserve it, though.

The killer is we also just likely gave ourselves a horrible matchup for the Dance, too. Have to hope to luck out as an 11/12 and get a favorable opponent. On the other hand, a strong Pac-12 Tournament could still raise us more than is even imaginable right now. Point being, there is a LOT of basketball left to be played, folks. Buffs better use this as a wake up call like they did last year with the loss to Oregon State at the end of the regular season (and like they did with the loss to Iowa State late in 2011, before getting revenge on them in the Big XII Tournament and playing a very solid tournament beating KSU and taking KU to the wire).

You've come this far Buffs. You ****ed up big time today, but there's still massive opportunity to redeem yourselves. Get angry. Get pumped. Let's finish this season in proper fashion. The team didn't come this far to flame out. Get your ****ing act together and get desperate. Show me some fight and some desperation. I'm not mentioning names, but some players were zombies out there today. No emotion. Highly disappointing.

It's very difficult for a team to beat another team twice in a row. Doesn't happen very often, and if it happened to CU, I'd be very surprised.

We will now see what this team is made of and if Tad can work some of his motivational magic. The team needs to come out and pound OSU Wednesday. Time to try and win 4 in 4 days again. Tall task for sure but it is about one at a time. Go get these guys in Round 1

Obviously I hope they win it all. But I'll honestly be happy with a single win to ensure our spot in the tourney. We're not as desperate as we were last year.

I was watching CBB Live on ESPN2 and Miles Simon, who I really like, picked UofA to win it all. I feel like he's kind of in a no-win position for that kind of thing. Katz had UCLA, so ESPN obviously doesn't want him to say that. And if he didn't pick UofA, their fanbase would go nuts. I can't say it was a bad pick and it's pretty conventional after all. I just can see any team winning it, there's just no dominant team in the P12.

I was kind of surprised that no one picked Cal. One bad loss to Stanford in a rivalry game and all of a sudden the talking heads forget that Cal has been beating the other teams in the Top 5? Cal's the favorite in this thing.

Here's the thing, we all see this as a "lethal" loss. But if the committee is watching ESPN, they only know we lost from watching the P12 Tournament bracket. There were no highlights on anything I saw. Kind of disrespect towards CU basketball, but w/e.

Cal definitely has two of the five best scorers in the conference. Sets them up pretty nicely for a run in Vegas, IMO, although I could see anyone from Cal down through UCLA, us, or even UW winning it.

Were there any highlights? OSU is awful and we haven't been ranked in a while. No disrespect. We are NCAA bound in back to back years since the 60s. That means most of the 35 year olds on this board weren't alive when that happened. DBT was probably 35 then though.

Let's make back to back to back tourneys and make it to the sweet sixteen before we start talking about respect. We need to make some noise though.

Fair enough. My primary concern is the variance in our play. In my stupid opinion, we are the best Pac-12 team when we play like we want it. When we do not play with that intensity, however, we are about the eleventh best team out of twelve. It is maddening.

I would expect there to be more of a mention of how much this hurts CU's chances, I'm biased but sure. I would actually think it's more likely we'd be highlight filler with a loss than a win in this situation.

Oh, I completely understand and agree. The team is lights out and can play with anyone when things are clicking. We can compete with the big boys and lose to the little brothers of the league. You don't get too much respect when you are inconsistent. Arizona hasn't reached the Final Four since '01 where they were the runner up, but they made the tourney 25 years in a row from '85 to '09 and have more than a handful of Sweet 16s and Elite 8s. UCLA is the Pac12s most historic program and they were a beacon of consistency a very long time ago.

Under Boyle we will have some consistency for the first time. But it seems to me that expectations are absurdly high for a program that's never done much, with exceptions here and there. We laugh at KU football fans who argue they were great under Reesing and Mangino when they were #2 and that's the perception of CU bb right now outside of CU fandom. We aren't far removed from being the worst BB program in a power 6 conference.

Part of me wants the team to sweep the Pac12 and win the championship again. Part of me wants them to beat OSU and lose so that we can get our youngins some time to rest up. Similar to what happens when guys to the NBA and play 80 games a lot of our younger guys aren't used to the 30+ game schedule and it's beginning to show. I think it would be better for the program to reach the sweet 16 without a Pac12 championship than the round of 32 with one, imo. Banners do go up forever though....

You're right, but if you watch the scores around the country, that's more the rule than the exception. There are very few teams consistently showing up every game. It's frustrating as hell, but with all the early entries to the NBA and the lower scoring games, there's probably more parity now than there's ever been.

You're exactly right here. We're new to this whole basketball scene and many fans are a little TOO high on this team. We're good, but still nowhere near the elites of college basketball.

It used to be that winning 20 was almost a guarantee that you'd make the tourney. How many teams hit 20 wins this year? There's a lot of teams like ASU that schedule patsies nowadays and it's diminished the "20" win mark. I'd like to have 20 win seasons with <40rpi from here on out. That's something that I think this program could consistently do for now.

We can start talking about Elite 8s when we get one-and-dones and more depth. Even then making 1 elite 8 doesn't make you a blueblood program, yet I think a lot of people on this forum would argue "we've made it." No, it means you've "tasted it."

I'm not disputing those teams should get more attention, I was just a bit surprised with the lack of attention especially during College Basketball Live. Andy Katz has been high on the Buffs and Miles Simon has called a bunch of our games (not to mention he's a P12 guy).
