The track and field team has started the "serious" part of the indoor season at meets yesterday and today, with, especially, the top distance runners running in their 1st races of the indoor season. In general, looks like the middle distance and distance runners are competing in Seattle at the Husky Classic, while the sprinters and field athletes are in Albuquerque at the Don Kirby Collegiate Invitational.

SEATTLE — University of Colorado senior Pierce Murphy opened up his final indoor season with the second fastest NCAA 5,000-meter run time of the season, turning in a performance of 13:40.12 on the first day of the Husky Classic on Friday night at the University of Washington.

Murphy, who was running his first race since placing third at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in late November, placed second to Oregon’s Edward Cheserek (13:35.86) in the top section of the elite field. Murphy’s time was less than a second from his personal record (13:39.29), which he ran a year ago.

Looks like some very promising/ great performances today for the Buffs. A few I see:

1) Frosh Duane McClurkin Jr. in the Men's 400M (and he's listed as a jumper on the roster)

2) Two frosh women, Dani Jones and Tabor Scholl, jumping to 3rd and 4th in the CU Indoor Mile all-time performance list (Behind only pro stars Jenny Simpson and Emma Coburn), both getting PR's and finishing under 4:40-

3) Last but certainly not least, senior Connor Winter breaks the mythical 4:00 mile barrier!
