I know we always debate the merits of a tough non-conference schedule. ESPN tried to put some numbers to it. I thought CU would have been higher than 24. Can't believe kNU is 19. Also, our winning % vs. non-conf BCS is .214:sad2:. Real shock that KU was next to last.:

It´s kinda flawed as they don´t rank opponents by record etc. but rather only by conference affiliation.

Not sure about the above comment, with as much time as I spend watching espn I can't hate on it. Anyway, the article did show that Kansas is the cupcake king which as mentioned above is not surprising. Also, there were a few SEC schools on there which surprised me at first, but I guess when your conference schedule is so tough you'd want and easy non-conference.

The sports radio guy here in San Diego was talking this morning about how the SEC isn't as good as they make themselves out to be, and backed it up with some of their records when they actually go out and play teams from other top conferences, especially when they do so on the road. Really interesting the number of games they play out of conference 1. at home, and 2. within a few hundred miles of home when they do go on the road.

Now I thing the SEC is the top conference, however, I don't think they're as far ahead of everyone else as many think

Also, this article didn't necessarily take into consideration the quality of the opponents, just the conference. CU may not play as many BCS teams, but when we do, it's often against the top teams from those conferences.

CU would have rated higher if CSU brought more to the table. Those retards are holding us back!

The formula is screwed, too. kNU played 5 Div2 programs versus CU's 1, but still rate higher. Whatever.

They've played 16 BCS Non-Conference games in the last 10 years...we've played 14. They rate higher due to math.

CSU screws us by virtue of us having played them 10 times in 10 years. That's almost 1/3 of our non-conference games in the past 10 years right there.

Eh. You can manipulate the numbers to say just about anything. As far as NU being ranked higher, we've only been on our downturn since 02. Before that we were beating the crap out of all out OOC opponents. The only teams we've lost to are S. Miss, Penn St. and USC. Along the way we've beaten Washington, ND, Iowa, Penn St., Cal, Arizona St. and Wake. We've just taken our ass beatings from in conference...:sad1:

Well, I mostly agree that to be the best you have to beat the best but sometimes it sure seems like CU is masochistic about its non-conference schedule. I think it's appropriate to play a top opponent every year but we're playing an intrastate grudge match plus 2 top schools almost every year. If we're not firing on all cylinders it's possible to go into a conference season 1-3 and a little demoralized. I despise kansas and their shortcutting to the top but it makes sense from a certain point of view to get tuned up by whipping sorry teams and then go into the real season clicking. Just sayin'.

Eh, this is off topic but I just wanted to ask if you made your sig. The glass effect is one of the best I've seen. I'm a bit of a graphic artist myself but I've never quite been able to make glass look right. Was this made in PS or GIMP?

What is best for CU and the non conf? 4 cupcakes. What is best for the athletic dept funds? tough schools that get us on TV. If we could schedule cupcakes and have full stadiums at home, then we would. But we can't and if you don't know why, just look at today. All sorts of excuses why people can't make it. People giving tickets away for free, etc. Either sell them for face, or make people buy ones from the athletic dept and help CU out.

Wait, I am using my Father-in-Laws tickets--- never mind. I Do have to put up with his daughter, so I do pay a price in a way....
