Interesting tidbit on Tommie Frazier and CU!

Every team has their "could of/should of been a _____". I never had heard that Frazier wanted to be a Buff. Pretty interesting.

Frazier was gonna come to CU until Mac got Detmer and changed CU's offense.

Who knows what would have happened between 92-95 had he come to CU, who knows. He was magical, even more than Hagan.:sad1:

I think Hagan wanted to be a Husker until you guys backed off of him.

Like I said, every team has these stories. Two of the most famous ones out of Husker camp were both Faulk, and Sanders. With Faulk, TO wanted to make him a DB!!:wow:

should've, would've, could've, we might've had Junior Seau too, and a myriad of other great players. Let's just hope now that fate has a brighter design for CU's future instead of worrying about what could've been. JMHO.

Yeah, it's kinda fun to look back at some of these stories. Frazier, Seau (u$c), and the Selmon bro's (boomer-u) are the one's I recall nearly being in B-n-G. Any others you can remember, V?

I don't think anybody is worrying about what could have been, the article just brings an interesting discussion about where good players almost went. Nothing wrong with that.

I've heard stories that Elway considered CU. Not sure how much I actually think that was true. Just something I've heard at tailgates.

No, nothing WRONG with that at all,I like our glory years and the CU nostalgia as much the next guy. I'm just of the opinion that we should look forward more than we look back, lest we be accussed of being hypocrits when we criticize the Nubs for doing the same.

Carson Palmer was supposedly >< this close to being a Buff for the weasel before going to USC. I don't know how accurate that story is, but it makes for fun discussion, I suppose.

Every school in the country has some that got away. When we thump the Corn this year they will be complaining about the three that Callahan had committed that went to CU and were part of beating them.

That's always the tough one, when I think about what the team had in 2001 and could have done with a Heisman-winning QB. Probably no Fresno State loss at least.

Sidebar: Just in awe looking over CU's nonconference schedules until 2005 or so. You kidding me, Big 12?

I don't remember the Faulk one, but I do remember when Emmit Smith was all but a Nebraska recruit, than on the signing day he switched to Florida.

I believe he didn't come to CU because Mac wanted to go to more of a passing attack. Mac chose Detmer over Tommieboy. At least that's what I thought.

If I remember correctly Slick Rick also struck out on Kyle Boller that year too and there was another whose name escapes me at the moment who also was from Cali that went somewhere else that he was after (I believe he went to Arizona, but not totally sure). We ended up with two frosh QB's who couldn't play a lick..

Just imagine how bad we would have been without Moschetti.

Slick Rick went off to Seattle after having an "improved" season in 98.

Re: Interesting tidbit on Tommie Frazier and CU!

We recruited Frazier as an option guy, and when we decided to throw out the I-bone for the 1992 version of the spread that Washington had made flavor of the month, Frazier still wanted to come here and compete but Mac only wanted to give out one qb scholarship, to Detmer. Oops.

Detmer wasn't a bad quarterback by any means. I loved his knowledge of the game and his reckless downfield blocking.

But I did attend the 92 ass rapin' in lincoln. If I remember correctly Kordell was injured and thus the game featured two frosh. starting QBs--Frazier and Detmer. Most of us remember who shined in that one. I hate the corn with every ounce of my being, but man, Frazier was a special kind of player.

I think the play that stands out most to me is when we were playing Florida and Frazier ran through a ton of arm tackles and went down the field for a TD.

It's always fun to look back and think, "damnit if we would've just had this guy or that guy."
