...for "I can't wait until next year" talk? As a guy who is a "glass is half full" person, I have been trying to look for positives all season, and now it seems I have to resort to positives for next season. I came up with a list of 10 things I am looking forward to in '10:

    1. There won’t be a QB controversy that concerns CH.
    2. On offense we don’t graduate a single OL, RB, QB, or WR who contributes
    3. We lose only 1 regular offensive starter (Geer) and 2 contributors (Devenny, Behrens), and I think Deehan should be prepared to go with Thornton backing him up
    4. Our ’10 WR core will have 2 seniors (McNight, Simmons), 2 Juniors (Simas, Clemmons), 1 Sophomore (Jefferson), and 2 RS Freshmen (Darden, Ussery). The deepest core we have had in years
    5. On the O-line we will have 13 scholarship linemen available to use. There is 1 Senior (Solder), 6 Juniors (Adkins, Bahr, Behrens, Daniels, Iltis, & Miller), 2 Sophomores (Dannewitz, Givens), and 4 RS Freshmen (Bakhtiari, Handler, Harris, & MTM). We will also have Stevens who is a non scholarship Senior with experience
    6. We don’t graduate a single D-lineman in the 2 deep, and we get Kasa back
    7. We graduate 3 LB’s (Burton, Smart, & Mohler). Major will replace Mohler/Smart and Sipili will replace Burton. Rippy has missed all Big 12 play (other than the first half against TX) and we will get him back.
    8. Polk will take over for Burney at safety, and Perkins/Mahnke/Hicks will fill in the other spot
    9. Jalil takes over for Cha’pelle, and Olatoye, Hicks, or Wright will take over as NB
    10. Any true Freshman who makes the starting line-up would be due to their ability rather than a lack of players at the position

Now only 9 months to go until camp opens...

Not to mention another off-season of strength & conditioning for Cunningham and Pericak.

Probably a little too optimistic about our lack of FB and TE. Deehan and Thornton are the only "talent" we have at TE, and both are still uproven players.

The "no QB" controversy might be premature too. We don't know what type of offense the new staff will implement. Cody has the ability to get better in the off-season. Granted, I want Hansen to be the "man" as well, but we can't be certain that it is clear-cut just yet.

All-in-all I agree, I think we were bound to be better in 2010 no matter the coach, but a good staff can make this team bowl-bound and possibly better if they can get them to execute and be mentally prepared (O-line).

 I like your thinking. I'm also really excited to see what our next coach will do with Simmons - who I believe to have great talent. With Simas, Clemons, McNight and hopefully Simmons as our starters with Ussery and Darden seeing time too and a QB who can get them the ball, there's a good chance that our running game will be improved as well.

Not to be a negative nancy or anything, but all those items of optimism are contingent upon 2 things:

    a) we lose no more players to transfer (after DS announced, there was rampant speculation that other top-tier players were considering getting out of Boulder too...now hopefully that won't be the case when we send Juciebox and his orange slices to intramurals, but you never know)

    b) Juicebox Talkins is indeed done (I know most signs point to that, but until I hear the press conference, he is technically still our HC next year)

But our schedule sucks a little next year:

    At CSU
    At Cal
    Hawaii
    Georgia
    At Mizzou
    Baylor
    Texas Tech
    At OU
    At KU
    ISU
    KSU
    At Stinkoln

I did prefer this year's schedule but I guess it made **** difference.

    I'm excited too.

But for next season to be different, here's what needs to happen:

    1) new coaches
    2) OL looks into the abyss and figures out who in the hell they are
    3) player attrition is not as bad as I and others currently fear
    4) no QB controversy unless one of the youngins challenges Hansen (but I believe that Hansen should get the keys)
    5) Jimmy Smith does not turn pro

If we get all of these, as long as Ronald McDonald is not our coach and Grimace the OL coach, we should reach a bowl, win a few we shouldn't (Cal/Georgia/Oklahoma), and challenge for the North

McKnight is turning into the next Jason White? I feel like he's been starting at receiver for you guys for the last 8 years!

162 catches, 1,853 yards, 13 TDs with 1 game left in his junior season.

One of the few offensive bright spots the past 3 seasons.

He'll never be an NFL guy, but I admire the hell out of him. Goes up and over the middle every time with no regard for his body. Spiderman hands. I'd love to have someone like that on my team any day.

Shhh... He's actually Dusty Sprague. We just give him a new jersey every 3-5 years, and we're good. Don't tell anyone.

I always wondered if he switched jerseys the past few seasons and also played on D as Ryan Walters.

Hawkins is coming back. None of our recruits are wavering, Bohn didn't announce a decision after the game...the only chatter asking for his head comes from sites like this and netbuffs. If you were to ask the typical CU professor/student whether three million dollars for a new coach is worth it, the answer would be a no.

    Hawk is done.

I have a feeling that if MB were not in HI with the BB team, we would have likely had an announcement. Once presented with the potential loss of revenue that retaining Hawk would present, I doubt you would find anyone who would support a decision to keep him. You lose alot more than the 3 million in the first year alone, not too mention, the long term damage done.

One of the most important things you get from a new staff is a clean slate and new attitude for alot of kids.

    Re: Hawk is done.

Well, there are always those whacky people who think differently. There will be supporters of Hawkins the man, of Hawkins the coach who finally got his guys in place and deserves a chance to coach them, and there are those who say that in this economy CU looks arrogant to throw $3 millon away on getting rid of a losing football coach. You will always find someone would would support the decision to keep him.
