Hope not....for God's sake, the DA and the University need to hurry the hell up. At UT, this would be resolved and Lynn would be on the field....

Does not matter that the kids aren't pressing charges, since the police were called, its up to the Boulder DA.

From day one- I was thinking most likely scenario- this gets plea bargained down to a misdemeanor and Judicial Affairs suspends him for the fall semester.

My fear being that Lynn would choose to sit out and transfer since he was going to be suspended anyway.

Mark Collins (BSN) has heard that Katoa is taking responsibility for his actions and is not sour on CU.

Hoping that is the case and we get to see him in the BnG for 2009.

I've lost all respect recently for the Boulder Courts/Justice Dept. All the recent crap with football is one thing but I work at the CU Bookstore and we got broken into a month ago (lost around $32,000 worth of ipods and computers) and even though they caught this kid, our inventory is just sitting in limbo while they work out a plea with this ******. It's been almost a month (at least) since they arrested this kid and we still don't have our stuff back or any sort of resolution. Let's hope Katoa's case is a little higher on the totem pole than grand theft at the campus bookstore.

Maybe respect isn't the right word. I'd heard so much crap about the courts and cops in Boulder (and at CU) but I was sort of giving them the benefit of the doubt until I personally saw something ridiculous happen. I know a few people in law enforcement and they're all nice, get it done sort of guys. So I go with the innocent until proven incompetent attitude.

I know one guy that is a cop in boulder now. He was always cool and i have no reason to believe that he longer is. But he wasn't a cop in boulder when I lived there. I can say that I never EVER had an encounter with an officer in Boulder that was helpful or left me feeling good about the service they were providing. I had about 5 - 7 REALLY BAD experiences with police in boulder though. Luckily, the one time in which the courts were involved they realized how ridiculous the situation was and threw it out.

Boulder cops are totally worthless. In general, even though I love living here, the city is run very badly, but the cops are the absolute worst.

I hope the DA doesn't charge him with holding a deadly 7-foot tall stick on the sideline!

The Boulder PD has always had a hard-on for CU students. They're easy targets. It's a lot easier to hassle a 20-year old with an open container than it is to solve real crimes and punish real criminals.

Is that partly because not much really happens in Boulder?

Growing up in Arvada there was a very low level of crime so the cops would focus on harassing the teenagers. For example, one night a buddy and I decided to walk down to 7-Eleven to get some snacks. We weren't even drinking that night, but I stubbed my toe on the sidewalk and stumbled a little bit on our way back. Within a couple of minutes I had THREE police cars surrounding us on the corner trying to find something wrong.

Let's protest on the hill. I will bring the couches if you bring the matches maybe then they will get to feel like real cops for a while and leave the petty crap to security guards and the TSA.

Could be worse, I got in a car wreck in Buena Vista almost 10 years ago. Noone died or was seriously hurt but people went to the hospital. You would have thought I killed someone, i say this because atleast now we now where the Boulder cops cut their teeth.

Let's see, we have katoa, sipili, vaimounga, duren and hartigan on the sidelines and doing drills after scrimmage.

    5 LB's ,that's super.

Maybe we can move kai to LB.

The outcome of a situation may not be ideal right now, but I hardly think a situation where a stun gun was allegedly used and allegedly someone forced his way into a house and punched an occupant of that house qualifies as "petty." I don't think the Geer situation necessarily qualifies as "petty" either.

They still haven't solved that murder of a little girl from a while ago. And there are a lot bigger problems than underage drinking. Why not try to go after some drug dealers?

But I guess students would complain about that too...:smokin:

While I may not agree with the laws in the state of CO, the fact is that a 20 year-old drinking is against the law and having an open container is against the law. The cops are doing their job and I can't fault them for that. They have a "hard-on" for CU students because they make up a huge portion of the Boulder population and they do a lot of stupid stuff. If you don't want the police giving tickets for under-age drinking, open containers or pissing in public, get the laws changed.

Geer and Katoa screwed up big time. Not the cops' fault not the DA's fault.

I'm glad that Katoa was on the sideline working. It shows that he's still with the team and hopefully will learn from this and be a stand up player and student.

That's bull. Why can yuppies sit in front of norlin and drink wine during the Shakespeare festival and a student can't drink a beer and play frisbee?

Because the law is written that way. Live with it or contact your representative in the state government and try to get the laws changed.

And regardless of what changes you do make, I suspect you won't get any changes that will allow somebody to force their way into an apartment and put somebody's head through a wall.

The law is not written that way. The enforcement of the law is different. That's what I'm saying.
