If we can we should. I think it is more likely a HC change will cause some decision changes more than position coaching changes though.
Shocking that we have not seen more news during the dead period. Can anyone explain this?
We raided Nebraska's class a few years ago and got some guys. Givens, Rippy, and someone else I think?
Some DE who ended up switching back to Nebraska
Would Umu count?
Going the other way, I think we lost at least a QB when slick bailed on us, and MJD followed EB to fUCLA. Sadly, I suppose, we haven't had many coaches leave for better jobs recently.
We had Corey Redding (National DPOY) set to commit to us the weekend Skippy bolted. He was on his official visit.
Tosh basically imploded Cal's class when he left there taking a few to UW with him, and (rumored) convinced several others to de-commit from Cal.
Wasn't Jeremy Maclin set to commit too when Barnett was let go?
I don't think so. From what Umu said he was going to commit either way.
I doubt you can just go in and "raid" a team that has a coaching change. I mean, if you had been recruiting a kid and had a good relationship, then yeah, you might flip him. But there really isn't much non blacked out time between no and LOI day to establish a relationship. At least that is what I'd expect.
You would have to have room for the players and usually you would have to already be recruiting him. When Embree left we lost a player to Missouri - Marcus Loud out of Texas.
That very well might have been our best class ever, our luck sucks.
damn MJD and Maclin in the same offense would have been sweet. On the other had Dan Hawkins would have ****ed it up had they committed.
So would GB. Remember he and Booger couldn't figure out what to with Lawrence Vickers or Jeremy Bloom, besides have LV stand next to GB on the sidelines or use Bloom as a decoy.
