Just a team supporter, I guess...

The term "fan" derives from "fanatic". Fanatics of any variety aren't a rational group. They tend not to be grounded in reality.

A fanatic wouldn't calmly accept the befuddled performance I witnessed last night. A fan wouldn't calmly accept the inevitable blowout as the Sooners did exactly what they wanted with our Buffs.

A fan would throw ****, and break **** and scream obscenities at the TV. I did none of that. In fact, I haven't all season. I don't think I did the second half of last season either.

I can't remember the last time I ran to the window after we stuffed a team on third and short, or intercepted a ball, or scored a long touchdown and--at the top of my lungs-- yelled, "**** yeah mother****ers, **** yeah! **** yeah! Lick my ****ing grundle bitches! **** yeah! Go Buffs, mother****ers!!!!"

I don't do that anymore, and I'm certain it's not because it upsets my wife, and it's definitely not because I'm more mature.

Nope. I'm no longer fanatical. I support the Buffs, and watch every game. I talk about them every day. I wear the gear. But I don't indulge that over the top behavior that makes a fan a fan.

That's a response I don't get often. However, I'm willing to give it a shot.

Interesting.... I feel the exact same way... I am over a loss exactly 3 seconds after it is over.... I found myself rooting for them last night.... and then kapet saying to myself..... maybe its better we get blown out... if we get another coach next week, we can win 3 out of 4 to go to a bowl....

and I stopped drinking for health reasons... that is no an option to go back to right now...

Sorry, walrus. Anyone who still watches every game and still gets on a message board every day is a fanatic. Hawkins has nearly snuffed the fire in all of us. However, the embers still smolder and with a litte forethought and a little luck CU will hire a new coach that can fan the fire again.

    Four weeks and he's gone.

Last night was the first time ever that I walked away from watching a Buff game before it was over....Wally is right. Hawk has snuffed out my passion for Buff football....

Right there with you all BUT...if I am honest with myself, I will be right back to my old self with a new coach. He hasn't snuffed the fire, only made me put it away for now

I didn't even watch the game. I can't remember the last time I missed a game that was on TV.

I had better things to do with my time.

Well, Mr. Fairweather Fan, you should be kicking yourself for missing an absolutely lackluster performance. The score does not tell the story.

The fact the game is not on TV next week is kinda nice actually. I don't have to bother trying to make time to listen or watch the game. I can find out later.

I really have reached the level of not caring at all. When I see a punt get blocked because we decided to try a rugby punt inside our own 10 I just laugh. I honestly think it's comical at this point.

Cody's TD pass to McKnight felt about the same as finding a $20 bill in the pocket of a seldom worn jacket. It was cool, but in the context of paying the mortgage, it means very little.

I watched the game by myself mostly in silence in the privacy of my livingroom with the kid and the Mrs asleep in another room.

No texting b/w buddies. No Allbuffs. It felt dirty and inappropriate being by myself watching OU have their way with my Alma Matter's once glorious football team.

Props to Stoops and OU for building and staying commuted to putting a winning program on the field.

Even worse, once it was painfully obvious that CU had zero chance I decided I did not want the team to make a couple of late touchdowns and make the score more respectable. In fact, was rather dissapointed that OU called off the dogs. I don't want any chance that they keep D2D next year.

I made it three quarters and turned it off. Watched the 4thQ on DVR this morning. I watched every play of 70-3 and I always finish every game - until last night. I think we get a new coach at season's end no matter what happens at this point, so I want a bowl game for our seniors.

CU already has my money this year, but I can easily see myself sitting out in the lot tailgating with friends during the remaining games - sitting around placing bets on what boneheaded thing our coaches will do next. Having to watch a Hawkins-coached team has come to the point of being unbearable.

I realized last that I have become a very cynical fan and expect the worst on each and every play. I still care, but Hawk is doing his best to snuff out any interest I do have remaining - but I will be back with hope when he finally leaves Dal Ward for the last time.
