Makes you wonder what stuff coaches tell these kids that never reaches the media.

As far as Kiffin's comment, pretty sad that he would choose to go that route.

$20 says Kiffin's gone before the kid finishes his playing days. The good folks in Tennessee have to be thinking "WTF?"

The good folks in Tennessee won't give a rat's ass what he does, as long as he wins. It's the SEC fer chrissake.

True enough. But that's the problem. I'm not sure thoroughly pissing off some of the most successful, tradition-bound, fan-crazy programs in the country is the best way to go about collecting "Ws."

Going 5-7 pisses them off way more than a few insults shot at other programs.

    Huh?

My ref to pissed off was Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, Flordia and South Carolina (did I miss anyone?), not Vols fans.

Fans insult each others' teams; coaches - at least the smart, successful ones - don't.

He is starting to make Al Davis look like genius for firing him. How bad do you have to be to make that happen.

the whole "i've been in the NFL", you B team college guys aren't fit to lick my shoes thing hasn't always worked out. Greg Robinson, Bill Callahan come to mind as "Pete Carroll" type flavors of the month currently no longer on a college sideline.

    Exactly,

Cable - Decent "Position" coach comes in as an interim head coach and lays the smack down on the broncos...

Kiffin - "In his own state of mind" Big Mouth Coach gets his a$$ handed to him against the broncos...

Hmm maybe UT will hire Cable next

Alot of the UT fans like his brashness. It sounds like they're about split as far as liking and disliking him so far.

Exactly. Let's see, by my count we have quite a few slimeballs in the SEC (Spurrier, Petrino, Saban, Miles, etc.) Kiffin is just another to add to the list. I'm sure there are worse stories that didn't make the headlines (yet). Only time will tell if he can turn around the train wreck that is UT, but if he does, nothing that he can do will make those boosters upset.

If all it took to win was recruiting Texas would be Big XII champs every year and Boston College and Oregon State would never play in bowl games.

true but if Lane can coach even a little, and his dad holds up his previous coaching record, they'll do alright.

I must have missed this somehow, but David Oku also went to Tenn.
He's the kid who moved to Lincoln Nebraska for the last semester of HS, but he's NOT going to be a husker.

Haven't 6-7 players already left the program? If so, now there's something to make their alumni say WTF!!

UT's gonna have an APR of about 24 in a couple of years. And it's no small that Kiffin is so masterfully out assholing everyone in the SEC. Al Davis is probably in his villa leanin' back and sippin' on his IV right now.
