What just happened?
Something must have happened (academics, misconduct etc)
I'm wondering if it had something to do with the assistant coach who got suspended.
Can't think of any great on-court reason for a change.
NO inside info, but assume it may have had something to do with the suspended Asst. Coach (and whatever he might have done)?
Anyway, best of wishes to Coach Kritza, and hope Mr. George now finds a great coach to keep the Buffs going forward (while hopefully keeping all the current players and commitments as current and future Buffs).
Yeah, don't tell me this was some sort of performance excellence issue just because she hasn't made a run in the tourney or anything. Most exciting v-ball being played at Coors in a very long time with the top notch conference affiliation. If it's something innocuous such as an institutional control thing where she herself is more guilty by association than actually an offender of some act then I wish her the very best landing on her feet at another program where this baggage won't be a hinderance.
Also hope there are no sanctions coming from whatever is going on. We need to use our Pac-12 membership as a tool to get a great coach who can recruit lights out. I submit Tonya Johnson, a two-time associate head coach at Texas who was Georgia Tech's head coach in between. Knows success.
Very strange news, considering the coaching changes we thought had a chance of happening this month were in a much weaker performing sport.
Can't possibly be due to on-court performance.
weird. even the dismissal note is weird.
Kizla is like a cockroach, nothing manages to kill him off.
That was what I thought about the wording. Do not understand this.
We should hire karch korai!
Wow. Really strange.
This was surprising. I felt like she was coaching for her job when RG arrived, but on the court she earned her position. Must be something I'd rather not know about that happened.
I'm really interested to see how RG does with his first coaching hire and what type of resume profile appeals to him.
Maybe she broke into the fridge and stole RG's lunch?
Oh brother! Where's 'tini when you need him for the inside scoop?
The wording of the letter makes it sound like this was not pleasant. Prefer not to know what happened. Just replace her with a good coach RG.
How awkward would this have been had they made the tournament?
Screw the high road. I want to know! This is the internet and it would be a dereliction of our duties to not participate in rumors.
I heard somewhere that she broke into the fridge and stole RG's lunch.
An article on the Camera's website concerning future scheduling has disappeared.
New article about the dismissal released by theThe Daily Camera (By Brian Howell)- www.dailycamera.com/cu-college-sports/ci_29204310/cu-volleyball-rick-george-feels-buffs-needed-change?source=rss .
Some of the article-
On the court, it was tough to argue with Kritza's results. In seven seasons, she was just 90-125, but 57-41 in the last three seasons, with trips to the NCAA Tournament in 2013 and 2014. At 19-13 (11-9 Pac-12) this year, the Buffs were perceived being snubbed for this year's NCAA Tournament.
It was off the court, however, where Kritza and administration didn't see eye to eye.
"It really comes down to expectations that we have — our core values, our vision and providing a world-class experience for our student athletes," he said. "If I feel at some point that it doesn't fit all of that, I may intercede and interject and make a decision that I think is in the best interest of our program. I felt like this was a time to move in a different direction with our leadership."
In late October, assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Ryal Jagd was placed on administrative leave and he did not return to the team.
George was asked if Kritza's dismissal had anything to do with Jagd's situation, and while he declined to provide details about that situation, he said, "The head coach is responsible for the program. Anything underneath that, which the head coach is over all of it, is that person's responsibility, and at the end of the day, they're the ones that will be held accountable."
This makes me think it was about the problems with Jagd.
Mods did a little pruning on this thread of unsubstantiated rumors and my response to them.
In retrospect the pruning was appropriate, thank you mods.
In the end we may never know the real story behind this coaching change. I trust the professionalism of RG to make the right decisions regarding personnel.
Pruning rumors? WTF is wrong with this place?
Oh my. Seriously?
Haven't we already established that DBT yells at clouds? Or that maybe he is Snow's sock? I can't remember which.
If only there was a place we could discuss unsubstantiated rumors....
You're talking about the Religion subforum, right?
