    A few things:

    1. @AztecBuff and @WasianCU have done a phenomenal job getting our early offers profiled.

    2. 2017 goes from future to present on or around March 1st.

    3. If you see a new offer pop up on Twitter, do not hesitate to share! If you want to make a profile, please make sure to check that one has not already been created for that player and to follow the Allbuffs template.

    4. Have fun discussing what figures to be the most important recruiting class in a while!

For real, they the real mvps. Makes it very easy for me to mainline kool-aid by seeing all these great prospects that are at least listening to our offers.

I assume we'll take the full 25. Could we take a few EEs on top of that?

I expect 27-28 total, including 2016 grayshirts and 2017 early enrollees.

This class could be fun to watch develop. Early offers to some serious players.

95% will not work out, but important to get a foothold with some of them early. A lot can change in a year.

I get that, but given constraints on time and budgets, why not go for the guys "in our league?"

Look what happened with Bisharat. Got in on him early, pursued constantly even when he was committed to stanford. Furd didn't work out and we got him because we put in the time and effort.

Therein lies the problem though: what is "our league"? If you confine yourself that much, you never get anywhere.

The coaches will throw out a ****load of offers. That does not mean every player they offer gets recruited with the same amount of effort. They are well aware of the time and budget constraints you mention.

General question: When CU throws out all these offers to blue chip players, does that mean someone on the staff has seen that kid play in person and at least met him at some point, or do they just throw the offer at them and then try to meet them?

I have a friend that always has, and seemingly always will, try for the really really hot chicks that are, and always will be, out of his league. He creepily hits them up on IG, FB, etc. Once in a blue moon he may even get them to chat with him or even meet up. He never has, nor ever will IMO, ****ed/dated/hooked up with any of them. Maybe he just likes the rush. He's 42 now. Not married.

Very unlikely every player has been seen in person, or even most. Most of these early offers are no-brainer type offers based on tape. The coach in that area has possibly met the coach, but face-to-face contact with the actual prospect usually only happens on unofficial visits during this time of year, but the coaches are obviously able to electronically communicate with prospects.

The Spring Evaluation Period is really the first time most of the players are seen in-person by the coaching staff. They actually get to see these guys in workouts and look at transcripts while really gauging the players as prospects by talking with coaches.

Then you have the camp season in June/July where the coaches get more face-to-face contact and can actually measure/evaluate/work out players themselves. The top players have already been hitting the camp circuit (Army All-American/Under Amour underclassmen combines, Nike/Under Armour Regional camps, etc.) but the lesser known players will hit the school camps to earn offers.

If you're ugly, you can still get a hot chick but you have to have money or really, really good "game". If you're ugly, poor and you suck at talking to women, you may need to lower your standards.

CU has been ugly, poor and awful at flirting for a while now. Fortunately, they seemingly have found some money, hired people that have "game", and are working on becoming good-looking (again).

I am really not understanding your point here. If you only stick to players in "your league," how would any college program ever actually upgrade their talent?

Again, the coaching staff is not going to spend all of their time recruiting 40 or so 5*/high 4* players. They know better, but the good recruiting staffs can accurately gauge real interest from those types of players and adjust accordingly.

    Here, let's try this:

    Situation 1:
Ugly guy to hot girl: "Hi"
    Hot girl: "Eww, get away"

    Situation 2:
Ugly guy to different hot girl: "hi"
    Hot girl: "Hi, what's up?"

Same starting point. Very different reactions. Very different plans of action after the initial response. (Gross over simplification, and I'm sure most of you guys know reaction 1 much more likely than reaction 2)

not saying you should't try to snag the top talent, but 90% of the effort should go toward realistic recruits. that's all

But see, this is the very essence/art of recruiting. If you just focus almost your entire energy on only "realistic" options, you are quite literally settling and not really "recruiting" at all, more just signing players in some neatly constructed comfort zone.

we agree. I'm just saying only 10% of resources need to go to 5* recruits. no more until we get a make over, lose some weight, get a dating coach and get a better job.

Were Bienemy, Alfred Williams, et al out of our league at the time?

There are only 25-30 5* recruits in a given year. I am guessing in a lot of years, not a lot resources go into that recruiting outside of exceptional circumstances.

But if we were to follow your recruiting strategy, we would not bother recruiting 4* or mid-high 3* prospects either. 90% of recruiting resources would not be used on the top 700 players or so.

Pretty good follow-up analogy, even with the parenthetical projection.

Following the example, I'd say CU is more like a good looking guy who got nailed for bogus stuff at his work, lost everything and wallowed in delusion and substance abuse for a while. Now he has kicked the addiction, is brushing up on long lost skills, is becoming financially secure thanks to the mid-level job he landed at a great place, and his confidence is growing - just needs a couple things to break his way before the women flock to him again. But they aren't all going to like him, no matter what he does; he should probably think twice about having AllBuffs as his wingman.

Succes can drastically change the perception and dynamics of an organization, which is why I still hold out hope for MacIntyre and his coaches.

Our league is the Pac-12. So CU will go after Pac-12 level prospects.

My friend works with some hot paralegals and other lawyers. He should go after them because they work in the same office and in the same field

Well, at the risk of a serious UBL: you seem to be arguing that CU should recruit like it's in the MWC.
