Brady Hoke = Dan Hawkins
Not really, but I am sure that is why Hoke will not get a serious look. The two have had two completely different career paths.
disagree.. Hoke turned around two programs now.. plus he was assistant at michigan and oregon state.. This guy knows football.
These exact same words were being said about Dan Hawkins when he was hired by CU.
I am leery of a hire like Hoke. Open minded, but concerned.
similar but as boulder buff said, hawkins and hoke have had different career paths.
Thing I like about Hoke is that he went into two historically bad programs and has turned it around. It shows that he understands what it takes to rebuild programs. And that's really where we are. .
Hawk was just a care taker to what Koetter built. Hawk never experienced failure until he got here as a head coach.
Hoke also did it with two largely different sets of assistant coaches, especially different OC and DC at Ball/SDSU. There's no Peterson behind Hoke propping him up.
I think Hoke is on the way up. He's taken the Urban Meyer path: first a MAC team, then a MWC team, then...
Much rather take a chance on him than on Karl Dorrell.
Well, he does have recruiting ties to Ohio and SoCal. Would be better than some of the other potential "candidates" I've heard.
as bad as SDSU was with Chuck Long, you have to be impressed with Hoke's Aztecs. were it not for a fluky play, they win at Missouri.
would be a pretty big gamble, but a lot of upside. but as Urbana says, better than Dorrell.
Just saw a twitter report that Minnesota has contacted Hoke...he does have midwest ties.
It's all coming clear: Jimmybuff = Joel Klatt :smile2:
I don't really see Bohn going that far out on a limb for a guy like Hoke, but I think Hoke will get a big job someday and do well at it.
Bohn doesn't have much of a margin for error with this hire. I think his choices are pretty limited, unless he's willing to take a huge risk. He's never struck me as the kind of guy who's willing to take a big risk.
Bohn was AD at San Diego State prior to Hoke being hired. Not a direct connection, but could be one nonetheless.
We'll find out what Hoke's team has got over the next few weeks as they play Utah and TCU.
This. If his teams perform well he will become a candidate on a few team's radars
