Genius! You can bitch about his recruiting, but you have to respect the outside the box efforts in everything from this to football camps to keeping the team happy and working hard.

This may be an attempt to teach the same group and replace all of the BS.

Actually I think the Football 101 session was probably one of the better things Hawkins did while at CU. I attended (and still have the T shirt to show for it). Schmoozing, yes, BS, no.

Not all his ideas were bad. Not all Bohn's ideas were bad. Glad to see that HCMM is going through the list and picking a few things that made sense. One of the mistakes Embree made was to not want to do anything they'd put their fingerprints on after he had left for UCLA.

In fairness, that's why he was hired was to restore the tradition that had been "lost."

No it's not. He was hired because the AD was cash strapped and he was a hire on the cheap that didn't cause the fan base to evaporate or revolt.

And that's because he was a Buff. They wanted someone who would restore the traditions of the program since Hawkins in addition to not winning enough, didn't respect them enough for the fanbase (note: winning is all that really matters in the end). It was stupid not to cast a wider net. Bill McCartney wasn't a Buff when he was hired; if they had hired some unknown who had worked out, that person would've become a legend as well.

"Restoring traditions" does not mean "trying to cancel the Friday Night Buff Stempede parade in Boulder and anything else he didn't remember being part of CU football when he was here before". He took it way too far. His emotions over-rode his ability to critically think on these types of things. Like making a big deal out of wearing red. How does that make sense to any current player? We don't even play Nebraska and if they're ever on the schedule, the game doesn't mean any more these days than if we had Wisconsin scheduled.

You are wrong. They wanted a cheap place holder. If he worked out, great; if not, they could fire him when the 12PAC money was coming in. The tradition crap was nothing more than lip service to keep the fan base from realizing what was truly happening.

You keep talking out of both sides of your mouth here. You say it was lip service, but then you talk about how he was hired so the fanbase wouldn't revolt. If he wasn't a Buff, he wouldn't have been hired, end of discussion.

What you are missing is the only reason they found a coach that fans wouldn't revolt over, willing to accept amount of money they wanted to pay, was that he was a Buff. They used him and his CU history to buy time, nothing more.

I'm not missing anything. It's not mutually exclusive, they wanted both. The only other serious candidates happened to be Buffs as well.

Apparently she didn't take "Picking your Battles 101" or read "The Girl Who Cried Wolf."

Much like the mindless Obama bashers in here, when you try to force issues on everything you can no longer make a real issue about something.

As a "successful, professional, educated woman" I have to say that I went to one of these and found it very enjoyable. I did not feel it was condescending. It was not the football equivalent of "See Spot run". We got to meet the coaches and learn a bit about each of them. We got to learn about some different formations and plays that were well beyond the basics of the lineup. We got some of our questions answered. And we were financially supporting a good cause at the same time. If you look hard enough you can, unfortunately, always find someone who is offended by anything. And the writer obviously sees no reason to provide an opposing viewpoint to make it a balanced article.

Kuta was offended and off she went searching for a couple quotes to support her narrative. Comically bad article.
