The men's golf team will be competing in their 2nd tournament of the season when they travel to Olympia Fields, Illinois for the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Intercollegiate Tournament. The event is hosted by #6 Illinois for the 9th straight season and will take place between Sept. 12-14.

The hosts will be one of five top-10 teams and 10 top-25 squads at the event, including Alabama and Oklahoma State, which shared the No. 1 ranking in the initial Golf Coaches Association of America poll. The rest of the very strong field includes No. 4 Texas, No. 7 Stanford, No. 11 Oklahoma, No. 17 Florida State, No. 19 Texas A&M, No. 21 Arkansas and No. 23 Virginia Tech. Also in the tournament are Baylor and Colorado, both of which received votes in the GCAA preseason poll, Connecticut, Indiana and Michigan.

The Crimson Tide won the 2013 OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational, with Alabama's Robby Shelton and Stanford's Cameron Wilson sharing medalist honors.

The tournament will be held at the famed Olympia Field Country Club North Course, a par-70, 7,142-yard track that has hosted two U.S. Opens, two PGA Championships, five Western Opens and a U.S. Senior Open among other high-level tournaments. The course also will host the 2015 U.S. Amateur. Friday's first round and Saturday's second round tee off at 9 a.m., while Sunday's final 18 holes starts at 8 a.m.

The formatting isn't working right now so I can't post the final standings until later, but the Buffs finished in 7th place. Considering how strong this field is, 7th place is actually a great finish.
