The men's golf team is back in action Monday and Tuesday at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic in Scottsdale, Arizona. Here is a preview from the Wyoming website:

The University of Wyoming men's golf team finished preparations to host the 11th Annual Wyoming Cowboy Classic presented by Cleveland Golf beginning Monday and continuing Tuesday at the Talking Stick-North Course in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Wyoming's event will play 54 holes over two days with two 18-hole rounds on Monday followed by one 18-hole round on Tuesday. Play will begin both days with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. PT.

"We really enjoy hosting this event and it is great it's the 11th year," Wyoming Director of Golf Joe Jensen said. "I would especially like to thank our sponsors Cleveland Golf, who very much enjoys being part of this, and Troon Golf who also loves hosting this event at the Talking Stick. Everyone at the Talking Stick is always great to work with and we are very happy to be able to host such a great event on such a great property."

The 2013 Field: This season's field at the Cowboy Classic will feature 24 teams. In the 2013 field are: Wyoming, Arizona, Air Force, Gonzaga, Colorado, Old Dominion, Northern Colorado, Weber State, UC Santa Barbara, Nevada, Boise State, Santa Clara, Kansas State, Colorado State, UTEP, CSU Northridge, Utah State, Wichita State, Utah, Idaho, UC Riverside, Hawaii, Tulsa and St. Mary's College (Calif.). Six of the teams in the field are in the top 100 of the GolfWeek rankings with St. Mary's leading the way at No. 22, Tulsa is next at No. 41, Arizona is No. 62 followed by CSU at No. 72, Wichita State at No. 73 and Colorado at No. 74.

"We always have such tremendous interest in this event every year which I am very grateful for," Jensen said. "This is always a very good field and a great experience for the kids that play in it."

2012 Results: Kansas State swept the event last season winning the individual and team championship. Individually, Ben Juffer won with the lowest score tournament in history firing a 198 (-12). Juffer defeated Colorado State's Mike Wuertz via a scorecard playoff after closing the event with a three-under 67. Kansas State won the team championships with the second-lowest tournament score in history of 826 (-15).

The Cowboys finished 13th of the 23-team field at the with a three-round score of 848 (+8). Sophomore Jake Hedge led the UW scoring recording a top-15 finish tying for 11th place with a 54-hole total of 206 (-4). Senior Clinton Boutelle recorded a top-30 finish tying for 28th place with an even-par score of 210.

The Host Course: The Talking Stick Golf Club, North Course plays 7,133 yards and a par 70.
