The University of Wyoming men's golf team will open the 2013 spring campaign hosting the fifth-annual Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate presented by Cleveland/Srixon Golf, at the Classic Club, a Troon Golf property, in Palm Desert, Calif. The event is slated to begin on Friday and continue through Sunday. For the first time in the event's history it will be played over three days with one 18-hole round per day. All three days of play are set to begin with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. PT.

"First of all, I would like to thank our wonderful sponsors Cleveland/Srixon Golf and the Classic Club for allowing us to put this event on," Wyoming Director of Golf Joe Jensen said. "Mike Dunphy of Cleveland/Srixon Golf and Dawson Hess and his staff at the Classic Club have been unbelievable to work with and make this a wonderful experience for us every year."

About the Cowboys:
As a team, the Cowboys are coming off a hot start to the fall winning their first event in 12 seasons at the Battle in the Tetons on Sept. 3-4, 2012. They won the event in dominating fashion by 36 strokes on their way to the best team tournament score in school history of 847 (-17). The tournament victory was the Pokes first since 2000 and the first during Jensen's tenure.

The Pokes are led by freshman Kamrin Allen who carried the best stroke of the fall season at 72.60. He also recorded four top-25 finishes which included two top-10s. Allen also fired a career-low round of 67 (-5) during the fall season. Junior Eddie Stewart was also a key to the Cowboy success in the fall winning his first collegiate event at the Battle in the Tetons, tying for the third-lowest tournament score in Cowboys history of 208 (-8). Stewart carried the Pokes second-best stroke average during the fall season of 74.33. Senior Clinton Boutelle will return to the lineup after missing the fall due to injury.
