Hawaii - Hilo

The tournament, which runs this Thursday through Saturday, will provide an indication of where No. 39 CU stands right out of the gate, and not just nationally; with seven other Pac-12 schools competing, the Buffs will get an early idea of where they stand in the conference.

Annually, the field competing here is one of the strongest in the spring, and it’s no exception this year, as three of the top 10, eight of the top 20 and 13 top 50 schools will be represented. It also includes 14 of the nation’s top 40 individuals.

Colorado was listed 39th in both the final fall rankings by GolfStat and Golfweek, and will be joined in the field by league counterparts Oregon (No. 2 GS, No. 3 GW), UCLA (7/4), USC (14/15), Stanford (16/14), Washington (19/22), Arizona State (25/29) and Oregon State (48/47). Other top schools competing include Texas (4/11), Auburn (13/18), Texas Tech (18/16), Oklahoma State (27/31) and TCU (49/40).

Hawaii- must say I'm a little (OK maybe more than a little) jealous, and I HATE how I played golf. Go Buffs!

Looks like they're off the pace early at +5 (highest score of the ranked schools and a ways behind the leader USC, who is at -6), but obviously time to come back in the tournament.

Looks like the Buffs stabilized a little bit later in the round, but are still quite a bit back after the 1st round, sitting at +7, 16th in the 18 team field. Also looks like they'll have to improve quite a bit to gain many places, as the 2 schools tied for 12th (highly ranked Texas and UCLA) are 12 strokes ahead at -5. (There's a big gap between the 12th place tie and 14th place San Jose State, who is at +4.)

Golf is a game where a team/ player can get hot or cold quickly, so hopefully the Buffs CAN make some ground up the remaining two rounds of the tournament.

Buffs have moved up from 16th after the first round to 11th going into the final round tomorrow. They still have a legitimate chance at a top 6 finish in this loaded field.
