Mike Bohn realizes and respects that the leadership team at the University of Colorado has a right to pick whomever they want as athletic director. As for why he's no longer their choice, Bohn said, "I don't know why."

DiS gave him no warning? There was no conversation? No milestone not hit?

That should make any candidate feel pretty good...NOT!

He knows damn well why he isn't AD anymore. Look at the football record during his tenure. Combine that with Dr. Phil's "business" comments, it's pretty obvious. If football had won enough, he'd still have a job. He's the common denominator over nearly a decade when he's had four coaches. In addition even from upper administration, there have been different Presidents, Chancellors, etc, he's the only common link.

This would make sense if he was fired, say.. right after another dismal football season with a veteran coach. The timing of this makes no sense in regard to football- new coach who hasn't called a single down and during the offseason.

It's because of fundraising, pure and simple. DiS wants someone with access to deep pockets and business acumen...probably VP of an NFL team. I think in DiS's mind the AD needs to keep up with the other ADs in the conference and didn't have confidence in Bohn.

What concerns me most is if DiS hires some idiot who comes in and pisses off Boyle et al. The AD must kiss Boyle's ring and make sure he is happy...and continue to turn the football program around. If he does that all will be fine...we don't need some "big personality" but more of a technocrat who knows the nuts and bolts of putting into place DiS's vision...assuming he has one.

We actually do need a big personality that can implement his own vision. An effective communicator who can restore trust in the leadership and lead the AD through the facilities project fundraising and putting the athletic department on a clear path to success.

Why the hell would you want a technocrat implementing DiStephano's vision?:wow:

    That's a good point!!!

My main concern is someone screwing up what's going right so far. Things seem to be moving in the right direction...FB and fundraising still the obvious exceptions. If we can get a big personality guy who can implement a vision of a great AD and keep what we got going...going, then I'm for that.

Maybe you should apply for the position. You seem like just the kind of man Phil could get behind.

He might be confused why he was fired now as opposed to then, but if football had been successful during this time period, do you honestly think he would've been fired? Again, not saying I agree with the timing, but let's not pretend it's not without merit.

And that fundraising probably would've been a little easier with a successful football team.
