Hawk hasn't proven squat yet. He's beaten three teams with a combined 5-10 record. In his one chance to prove that he's really put together a respectable football team, he got bitch-slapped around all day long.

So, Hawk, here's another chance. A mulligan, if you will. You're going to Missouri. Show me. Show me that you're not a completely worthless head coach. Show me that you can put together a game plan. Show me that you can win against a ranked opponent on the road. You've had plenty of time. These are your players.

Win this game, and I'll back off the Hawk bashing. Lose, and it only reinforces the notion that Hawkins is an incompetent moron.

    Wow. You've softened a lot.

    You're not alone.

If we win at Missouri, I'm going to have to take a step back and re-evaluate things. A win there means that I probably don't know some things I think I knew, if you know what I mean. :wink2:

If they win, then I too, will start to do the little things... and maybe even cinch up my jeans... I might even start to learn some good parenting skills...

I've been pretty critical of Hawk, but I give the team and staff props for what I believe was four quarters of pretty solid FB versus UGA. Not specatcular, but beating a middle tier SEC team is nothing to scoff at. Having said that, I still believe Hawk is not the man for the job. He is, and should, be coaching for his job this year. Win 8 and he gets another year, anything less and it's time to move on.

Mizzou is a big game. I hope the Buffs win.

I wouldnt put much stock in this years Tigger team. They had a tuff time with Illinois and were real close to losing to SDSU. If we do win it wont be because of Hawk, but in spite of him. I think we are starting to see some of the upperclassmen take control of this team.

I'm on board if CU wins; 4 -1, beating a ranked opponent on the road will go a looooooong way.

The thing is Mizzou really hasn't been world beaters with the exception of one year with Chase Daniel. As Sacky has said, this buffs team just cannot defend this team, however just about every other team in the country can.

I think it does represent the beginning of a 2nd chance for Hawk. If we come out and stink up the joint, it's one more nail in the coffin and one I have a hard time seeing him escape the firing fate.

If we win @MU, then the heat is off Hawk a bit, but IMO, the schedule doesn't allow much wiggle room. If we beat MU and then lose to (a much improved) Baylor team at home, I think heat comes back on Hawk. Then we have TT at home & @OU. Then we play an awful KU team, but on the road. For me to even start to rethink my Hawk stance that it's time for him to leave, he has to win everything but the OU game in that stretch (and even then, we must play OU really tough).

Well, OU has shown that they like to play down to the level of their competetion this year.

I don't care if Mizzou is a paper tiger or not. CU, and Hawkins in particular, is brain damaged when it comes to playing them. Hawk needs to prove that he's not completely worthless. The way to do that is to do something he's never managed to do before - beat Missouri. Let's be honest, we haven't just lost to Missouri. We've gotten mud-holed. Embarassed. Humiliated. Degraded. Hawkins has a chance this week to prove something. He hasn't proven anything yet. C'mon Hawk, this is it. Do something to justify your salary. Make us believe. Do the little things. Cinch it up. Get your horns out. Bring your lunchpail.

I have a great fear of getting mudholed by Mizzou again and then losing to Baylor and OU. I just have a bad feeling about those three games.

Hold up. Mizzery hasn't exactly beaten anyone respectable so far this season. Their OOC schedule has been a joke and they barely squeaked by San Diego State at home. Yes, they may be ranked but they haven't proved much yet and the Buffs are their first real test. So if Hawkins does manage beat Mizzery.. kudos to him for getting over a hump called coaching, but that in no way (IMO) makes CU legit yet or reason to say that Hawkins is a competent coach. Once we beat someone who has already proven themselves this season, then maybe I will start giving Hawk some slack. Just a little.

Sure. We've all seen this play before. Beat West Virginia and we're "back", only to see them lose to the likes of Kansas, ISU, Baylor, et. al. It's a familiar tune. I'm still very firmly on the "fire his ass" bandwaggon until he actually proves something. And even if he does prove something, he needs to avoid losing to the likes of Iowa State and Baylor. He has no margin for error. None. In fact, he is probably already gone, as I'm convinced Bohn literally hates him now.

It is this simple. Hawk has to go 8-4. He HAS to win at least one road game. If we don't win a road game for the third year, that is example enough that we are only as good as our home games under him. They showed a statistic that of his 72 road games as a head coach, he has only won twice against BCS teams. Once against a crappy Baylor team when he had more talent, and a fluke(given his record otherwise) against Texas Tech. No road wins = pink slip regardless of if we are perfect at home.

Illinois hung around Ohio Stank this weekend. If we beat the Tigers, it'll be a pretty big win. Probably worth rushing the field for - even away from home.

If you ask most folks, they'd say that if they go 8-4, one of those losses is likely to be at Missouri. That's why I think this is a very important game for Hawkins.

What truly worries me about this game is the situation at db. If the nickle/dime backs can't produce, it's gonna be a long day.

Memories of past Hawkins performances against Mizzou are too fresh.

Hawkins lost me in 2008 when he decided not to go for a field goal that would have preserved CU's streak of not being shut out. A forfeit would have been less embarassing than that 58-0 beat down. That 2008 team lost the game before they even took the field. That was an inexcusable, career impacting game.

Hawkins lost me in 2008. He had a chance to win me back at Texas last year, but turned a halftime lead into another loss.

Mizzouri, Oklahoma and Nebraska are all on the road, and based on past performance, all look like no-hopers.

After traveling to watch the Buffs get their butts handed to them in Cal (and Stillwater, and Austin, and Lawrence and Morgantown, ect) I'm bailing out on this roadie to Mizzou.

My patience with Hawkins on the road has vanished.

yes he does- there's a reason Colorado has it in their budget next year to buy out Hawk's contract

No doubt about it.... Hawk will crumple on the road against Mizzou.

if i had to point to one glass very half full point, other teams have been able to run the ball on Mizzou under Pinkel. If we can show some of the run game spark we showed last week (at times, admittedly with TH making plays and some occasional nifty playcalling).....you shorten the game considerably and maybe have a chance into the 4th Q.....assuming you don't get behind big early, turn it over and wet the bed on special teams leading to easy points. assuming.

I really wish that Hawk hadn't squashed my optimism & hope for the Buffs. In years past, I would look at this Mizzou game as a chance to get CU back into the national discussion. Beat a top 25 team on the road and at night, then beat BU & TT at home, leading up to a showdown in Norman.

Instead, I'm afraid we're gonna be kicked by MU on national TV. Again. And I don't want to even think about Baylor or TT after that..

    Damn you Hawk.

Actually Baylor worries me, Texas Tech doesn't. TT does not look that good IMO.

Which means we'll come out slinging 3-yard passes for the entire first quarter and then lament that we fell behind too far to commit to a running game.

Actually I think this team is finding an identity with the rushing game now and we will continue to do that and be succesful with it. Mizzou's offense is whats gonna kill us.
