I'll buy a kid making a bad decision getting into a fist fight.
Someone carrying a gun and threatning to light the place up = thug, budding criminal...add whatever you like.
What does this part mean:
"Two teammates who accompanied Booker after he drove off when police arrived early Sunday will not face any internal discipline. Police interviewed All-American receiver Jeremy Maclin and linebacker Sean Weatherspoon but did not arrest either athlete."
Were those two the teammates who were with him? It doesn't quite say that but it implies that they were with him. Wonder if either of them will face any disapline from the school?
They were both with him at the party and were in the car with him when he grabbed the gun but it sounds like they just chose to hang out with the wrong thug that night. Neither one will be suspended nor should they if they didn't do anything.
Unless those two figure things out quickly, I am sure this won't be the last time we hear about them off of the football field.
Your probably right. Fairly or unfairly I'm sure that many locals will be quick to call the law on them if they do anything wrong, the local law enforcement will be keeping and eye on them etc. It's up to these to to keep their nose clean and stay out of trouble because to some degree they are already marked and their actions will be closely watched. Guilt by association.
Maclin is a beast on the football field. He'll play on Sundays if he keeps his nose clean.
Going to be tough for him over the next couple of years since he probably feels he has proven that he is ready to move on but can't.
After hearing a story about him scheduling an in-home with Hagan and then not showing up - he does not rank high in my book (if true).
Many a person has gone to jail who just happened to be in a car when a crime was committed and who just happened to drive off with the perpetrator. Plus the fact that all three are on the team means this is not just some random hangning out with the wrong guy situation. I'm not saying that something should happen to Maclin and the other dude, but driving off with a teammate who just threatened people with a gun, and who was just dismissed from school because of it, seems to warrant some scrutiny.
