[FONT=Arial,Helvetica]That was terrible. Whole sections on the east side were empty. There
were probably only 55k fans there -- the same # of fans that Folsom
holds. If CSU fans aren't going to show up to the game, what's the
point of having it in Denver? The stadium sucks, no atmosphere, too
    sterile, too NFL-like. Terrible.

Plus, how in the hell did I get stuck up in Section 512? You can't see sh*t from there. Been season ticket holder for many years.

What a mistake to put the game in Denver for 10 more years. Move it
back to campus now. Hell, I don't care if we switch off Boulder/Fort
Collins, I'm just sick of the no soul atmosphere.

    Agree 100%
CSU wanted it in Denver and they can't even sell it out? ****ing pathetic! That game does nothing at all for this series. Ram fans are dumb!

To be fair, Bohn went along with it being in Denver also.

I was for the game being in Denver when it was signed because of the money but even I have to admit it looked very embarrassing to see maybe 25,000 empty seats on TV.

I'm not going to worry about what happens with this series in 10 years. Win 'em all and maybe it ends.

But one thing they should do whenever this kicks off the season (7 of the next 9, I think), is lock it in as a Sunday game. People have Monday off for Labor Day and there's not much going on this Sunday. Better chance to pull a better attendance number and get it to air nationally.

I agree game should be on Sunday evening.

Still, I'm not sure CU makes more money playing in Invesco if there are 25k empty seats. Someone should have factored that into the equation. I know a LOT of CU fans (many season ticket holders) that elected NOT to go to the game because it's in Denver and Invesco sucks and is soulless.

I'm with Sportsfan. Let's have all of our home games at Folsom and let the sheep do what they want. Having the game at Invesco takes away all of the fun and atmosphere that makes college football so great.

There are so many things wrong with this game at Invesco. First, they open up the lots too late. Second, they don't staff the stadium properly, so there are massive lines to get into the stadium 30 minutes before kickoff. Third, they are so jacked up over security concerns that everybody gets a pat-down entering the stadium. :wtf: Really? that's absurd. Fourth, they randomly close off ramps to the upper levels for no discernable reason. "No, you have to take the escalator" REALLY?!? Fifth, did you guys see the riot police? Full riot gear, with helmets, tear gas cannisters, and big effing batons. Like they were getting ready for WWIII. REALLY?!?!? Honestly, what the eff is that all about? I hate being treated like a visiting team's fan in what should be a neutral site game. It's abundantly clear that the folks in Denver don't want this game there any more than we want it there. I understand the money issue, but after today, I'm firmly in the camp that says we should ditch this game in Denver. Bad venue, bad experience.

Is the $$$ better in Denver with 25k empty seats? Seriously. There couldn't have been more than 55k people in the crowd today.

**** Sunday. College football is supposed to be played on Saturdays. I prefer not waiting an extra day. Agree on moving it back to campus though.

I guess I'm for the exposure that a Sunday game creates. If we were playing tomorrow night, we'd be the only football game (NFL or college) aired on the most watched night for football (Sunday night). Seems a no-brainer for recruiting.

    Invesco sucks.

I might be mistaken, but I'm under the impression CU and CSU are getting a guarantee payout of X amount regardless of how many tickets are sold.

Who cares how many seats the lambs sell? It's a 7th game for CU - but only for our allotment of 40,000 (or so) tickets. We wouldn't participate in their ticket revenue anyway.

I'd be curious if this is the case. If so, maybe we're stuck in Denver. If not, Bohn has to try to wiggle out of this deal. I know that it wouldn't look good politically, but F that atmosphere at Invesco. Contracts are made to be broken.

I'm not a fan of having one of the more exciting games of the season being played in a half-full venue. It really detracts from the atmosphere.

I will say, though, that I have been to the RMS in Denver I believe three times and this was by far the worst, as far as fanfare is concerned. It just wasn't nearly as exciting as it usually is. Maybe next time I will have to go ahead and sit in a more student-heavy area.

I actually think that changing conferences would give us an "out" if we wanted to tear up the contract. Since we're moving to a league that plays 9 in-conference games instead of our usual 8, I bet we could demand that the RMS be played at Folsom when we are the home team. And we could make sure that we get the Folsom game in the years when the Pac-12 schedule gives us only 4 home with 5 away. If I'm Bohn, I'm all over that.

A big part of the problem is that they don't get people into the stadium fast enough. The lines to get in the door are freakish. Then, once you're in, you can't take the most direct route to your seats. They prefer to send you through some kind of maze. It's the dumbest thing ever. It's no wonder the stadium wasn't even half full at kickoff, there were still 20,000 people outside, trying to get in.

CSU coming in with 9 straight losses and CU coming off a 3-9 season didn't help matters either attendance wise.

Gotta love it when stimulus funding is buying the Denver police riot gear to protect Denverites from drunken college kids.

Yeah, no. I won't be flying up from Dallas to attend any Cinch Jeans RMS over the next decade.

I've always hated Invesco, for the Broncos and especially this game. I know the talking heads are all saying this game belongs in Denver, it's the only showcase for major college football, blah, blah, blah. This game belongs on campus, end of subject.

I cannot stand this game at Invesco, and yesterday did nothing to help that impression. All I heard in past years when the game was being held in Boulder how much this game HAD to be in Denver and how many more fans would be able to participate in the "experience" and blah, blah, blah. Well, leading up to the game I didn't hear s**t on the local TV stations pumping the game up (maybe I missed it?), nobody showed up to the game, the fans were all mellow (me included), did not remotely feel like a college (or even rivalry) game, and now all I hear on the local stations is how many people were arrested for drinking violations.

Maybe part of the problem was how crappy both teams were last (and this?) year, and the fact that Hawk is still our HC, but move this crappy game back to the campuses where it belongs...

Put this game back on the campuses where it belongs. And if CSWho is too embarrassed to play their HOME games in their own HOME stadium, then that's their problem. Cancel this stupid series and quit worrying about the political backlash. The Denver media hates us already anyway. I'm not at all a fan of all these college games being played in sterile NFL environments. The only neutral site games there should be are the traditional ones, UGA-UF, UT-OU, and Army-Navy.

As for the attendance, even Woody could figure out that the announced 60K figure was a joke:

Also, would it kill the scoreboard operator at Invesco to give us scores from around the nation? I didn't have any data network coverage (AT&T sucks in stadiums and their parking lots), so I had no idea what was happening around the country until I was driving home. And I don't think I'm supposed to be scrolling through scores on my iPhone while fighting traffic on the I-25.

It looked like CU had a lot more fans their than CSU did on the TV.

I don't know about the actual ticket sales, but it looked to me like about 15k more CU fans showed up. Maybe 30k on our side and 15k on CSU's.

Who would be paying them? If the tickets aren't sold, the money isn't there. They pay Bowlen to rent the stadium.

The Stadium Authority sells sponsorships which pays for the stadium rental and gives a little bit of money to the schools. But Ticket Revenues and TV revenues are still where a majority of the $$ come from. CU getting a bigger payday is based upon CU getting 55% of the gate. This game was probably a loser for CU as compared to having it at Folsom because of the poor attendance yesterday.

I was at the lightning bolt game with my son and it was magical. I'll never forget it until Alzheimers kicks in. What was I saying? Oh, it was magical. I was there with my son.

JK. A combined 6-18 last year and the 12:00 start doomed this one. But if csu can become competitive and if CU becomes a national power again, Invesco will be a rocking place.

This just came to mind as well. Invesco. It even sucks for Bronco's games? WTF? The place was poorly designed. It is clinical. It has no atmosphere. I think the designers and the City of Denver and Pat Bowlen get a huge FAIL for Invesco. Does that company/fund even exist anymore?
