I'm done fighting with the CU police over whether we can set up on the grass. My blood pressure can't take this much longer. The stress of trying to set up where we have been for the last 6 years has finally taken it's toll. For the last two games this year, we're going to set up about 50 yards to the West of our regular spot. Basically where Baker and the Music School meet, at the very west end of the lot. There's a nice grass and sidewalk area there where I hope to god we don't get hassled anymore. There wasn't anybody parked there at all this week, so I expect we'll be able to find a spot there next game. Unloading and loading the van will be a little tricky, but I expect we'll manage.

I swear CU is doing everything it can to drive us away. It's like they don't want us as fans. I'm very near my wits end. If this move doesn't work, I may not renew next year. It's simply not enjoyable anymore. The only thing that was enjoyable was the tailgates, and CU has ruined that, too.

As one who's always been interested in your tailgate but has never gone, I'm curious. What do the police do exactly?

Why would the CU Police harass tailgaters at a school where football is such a big deal? Oh wait...

If you don't want to pay more than $10 for football tickets, then you really don't want to know how much Franklin costs.

I actually looked at the price of franklin in the past ( I think it was $1100 at the time) in case I ever became a 1%er.

Wow. Tough crowd. Note to self: look for cheap tickets on CL next time.

    Sacky,
I know this stuff comes out of pocket. I know most Allbuffers on the board would be down to help out. I don't want to know a world without Sackygate!

It's not a cost issue. It's an access issue. CU planted a bunch of bike racks where we usually tailgate. They didn't bother to include us in the decision, either. They did it in the middle of the season, without warning, and then told us we can't be on the grass, either.

I know it is was a bad joke. I wouldn't want to pay much to watch the buffs play like crap either. It just isn't worth the money.

Sorry this is happening, Sacky. It's crazy to me that the University would harrass football fans who just want to have a good time, and aren't hurting anyone.

you need about 800 priority points to qualify, then if you do qualify it costs about 1K a year.

Franklin Field has two problems - one, it's expensive. My family parked there for over 10 years, but one year they doubled the rate, and we bailed. It is a great place to tailgate, though. The second problem is that for all that it costs, you probably only get to park there for 4-5 games per year. There was already one cancellation, and it wouldn't surprise me if one of the final two games gets cancelled as well. When that happens, you're left duking it out with the unwashed masses at the parking garage. Hardly the upscale VIP lot that Franklin is.

We won't be upgrading to Franklin.

Lot 169 down between the practice field and Boulder Creek is a great place to tailgate and there is not ever an issue with the police. We have had a parking spot there for about 10 years and it has been great. Plenty of room, good people, cost is reasonable ($120 for the season) and it has never been closed that I know of.

I have tailgated down there in the past. My big problem is that the lot is so isolated, I totally get why sacky likes his current spot. Tons of people walking by, the band plays while marching right in front of the tailgate, and you are actually on campus so you feel that connection.

on the other hand the cops aren't all over you in 169.

The way we've been treated by the University and the Campus Police has solidified my decision not to renew my season tickets next year or ever again until they change the way they treat their customers and most ardent supporters. The on-field product is down right embarrassing, yet they continually hassle and piss on the only people left supporting this rinky-dink operation. If they value keeping ten feet of grass free of people, tents, and a couple beer bottles for four hours a week six times a year (if we're lucky and actually get six games in Boulder that year), then fine, value that over my contributions. I'm done with it.

P.S. those doooshbaggy dune buggies are the capper. Seriously? This is what we're spending money on, ****ing dune buggies so the rent-a-cops can hassle tailgaters? Dune buggies? **** me.

It is truly ridiculous at this point. Same cop comes by every week.... move your tent off the grass and try and tailgate around the bike racks. Apparently the state liquor board must really be worried about tailgating, hence why they are up in Boulder every week.

I don't know about the priority points to qualify, but you have to be at a donation level of $1000 per year. The actual parking permit is still $120 per year same as all the other lots. The one downside is the inclement weather policy, they need to come up with a better place to put us other than the area around the parking garage. But for the rest of the games, it is pretty nice. I haven't tailgated as much this year or last namely because I started bringing my kids to the games, but the grass is great for playing catch or just kicking back on.

Agree on it being somewhat remote. Overall it is a pretty great place. The fans are long timers, the Coors bus is down there, lots of kids throwing footballs and a ton of good food being cooked as well. You get a lot of folks walking the Boulder Creek path to the games and it has some of the easiest entries into the stadium just up the hill as well. No lines and very few of the Argus asswipes bugging you with as you go in. Not perfect, but pretty damn nice on a fall afternoon.

I hope someone with credibility in admin can give Sacky an explanation of why they did what they did, and what they are willing to do to help resolve it. I'm sure our tailgating neighbors arn't happy about this either.

you guys really think the admin have any say about this? Football happens 6 weekends a year and take approximately 8 hours. The AD probably has absolutely no say on what happens on campus outside the athletic dept.

Does the Rivals TG catch hell like we do at Sackygate?
