2014 Top Performances
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - The Pac-12 Conference Track and Field Championships (84th annual for men, 28th annual for women) begins in Pullman, Wash., on the campus of Washington State, this Saturday and Sunday, May 10-11 with the multi events and continues next weekend, Saturday and Sunday, May 17-18 with the running and field events. WSU hosts the championships for the first time since 2002 and the sixth time overall.
A total of 25 participants have been entered for the multi events, including 13 men and 12 women. The championships begin with the men’s 100-meter race at noon on Saturday, followed by the women’s 100-meter hurdles. On the second day, the competition begins with the men lining up for the 110-meter hurdles at 11 a.m.
Admission is free of charge for the heptathlon and decathlon events. Tickets for the second weekend of competition on May 11-12 can be purchased on site through the WSU ticket office. The ticket office number is 1-800-GO-COUGS or 1-800-462-6847.

ON THE AIR... A tape-delayed broadcast of the 2014 Pac-12 Men’s & Women’s Track and Field Championships will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks on Sunday, May 25 at 9 p.m. PT. Paul Sunderland, Tom Feuer and Ato Boldon will be calling all the action, with Jill Savage reporting from the track.
HEPTATHLON/DECATHLON... The multi events take center stage this weekend with the men competing in the decathlon and the women in the heptathlon. Competition begins on Saturday at noon and continues on Sunday at 11 a.m. A full schedule of the competition can be found on page 4 and at pac-12.com. Only three women’s competitors return from last year’s competition, including Colorado sophomore Abrianna Torres, Arizona senior Amber Passalaqua and California senior Jaci Powell. Torres is the top-returning finisher, after finishing third as a freshman in 2013. However, UCLA junior Alexis Walker, a newcomer to the event, has posted the highest score of the season, to-date. In the decathlon, nearly half the field from last year returns with six of the 13 men’s competitors taking to the track this weekend, including two-time defending champion OREGON junior Dakotah Keys. Keys ranks third in the country in the decathlon. Looking to challenge Keys is senior Viktor Fajoyomi of USC. He was fifth at last year’s league championships but also has the third-best score in the Conference this season.
2014 NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS... The University of Oregon will host this year’s NCAA Championships, June 11-14 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. The University of North Florida (East) and the University of Arkansas (West) will be hosting the regional competition, May 29-31, 2014.
