My buddy just put 20K on csu covering

I knew guys like that in college. Gambled all the time, threw cash around all the time. One week they were rolling in dough, the next they were broke. That's how a large portion of the professional poker players are, too. Easy come, easy go. Scotty Nguyen won the WSOP main event and was broke a week later. He gambled it away playing craps. Mike Matusow has famously been broke a few times in the past 3-4 years.

Maybe he's different, but I doubt it.

Jordan was betting $10k per hole a while back on golf. And while that would indicate a problem on my budget I haven't heard of his airness having any problems with cashflow. We don't know the guys situation so we can't say he has a problem or not.

My sis was a bartender in Vegas for years. One of her best friends won one of those big poker tournaments. He won over a million. He lost it all PLUS he was banned from playing 21 in Vegas casinos because he is a known card counter.

Did you see where MJ's son was twittering about having dropped 50 large in one night in some Vegas casino. Makes me sick.

It's not a problem so long as you can afford it. Can a 20-something kid afford to just drop 20k like it's nothing? Maybe he can, but I kind of doubt it.

But it's his money and he can do what he wants with it.

Sure we can. Gambling is all about the feeling the gambler gets, the high, so to speak. A guy who puts up $20K on a college football game, or $180K on a round of golf obviously needs to wager those amount to get the feeling, otherwise $100 per hole would do. I can't tell you if a guy who smokes weed a few times a month has a problem, but I know the guy who smokes every morning after he wakes up has a problem. It's the same analysis.

But, hey, I don't give a ****. This is America, smoke all the weed and wager all the $$ you want, it's your life.

Good parenting.

Let me see $50k to a casino's bottom line or $50k to charity? Tough decision.

Well said.

Here is why this bet is stupid: it is the first game for both teams with numerous question marks on both sides of the ball, it isn't like betting the NFL week one after seeing a few preseason games. The bet is just a guess, not even an educated one, with 20 large behind it. Not a real smart decision.

ruh-roh. Tell him next time he wants to throw his money away there are lots of unemployed folk who could put it to use.

Exactly. Putting 20 large on a team with a complete unknown at QB ranks right up there with the dumbest things I've ever heard anyone do, and I'm not just saying that because the Buffs covered. It was a foolish bet regardless of the outcome.

Sounds like he needs to stick with poker and hold on to his winnings instead of playing Mr. Bigshot on football games

Your buddy sounds like he has a gambling problem.

i remember the weekend of the CU/Michigan game in '94. were were talking during the tailgate and my sister in law said that her boss lost 24k the prior weekend on college football. we all kinda stopped what we were doing in disbelief. then she said that he was not worried because he was still up over 150k for the year.

man, talk about a world i have no idea about.... :wow:

That was a good bet about 3/4 of years. Professional gamblers will always play those odds.

Still.... SUCK IT, FRIEND OF LOBLAW! GO BUFFS!!!
