Nate Solder Update - NFL Combine

Nate just ran his first 40 yard dash. Unoffially, Solder ran a 4.97 and more important, his 10 yard split was 1.61 seconds, the best of any lineman so far. His 4.97 ranks second.

Also, a sign of explosiveness, Nate Solder broad jumped 9'2", almost a foot over last year's average for offensive tackles. He outjumped the other top linemen in this year's NFL draft.

Solder will run his second forty soon.

I know he didn't do very well with the bench press but IMO this is much easier to improve on than the 40 yard dash and broad jump which he clearly excelled at. I think its much easier to build strength than explosiveness. I think the scouts will be impressed with these metrics good job Nate!!

I caught a good amount of the cover yesterday and he definitely helped himself. I think most of the draft guys knew he was going to do well at this kind of thing. His 10 yard split was 1.61, Mark Ingram's was 1.5something, so the guy can move. I heard a couple of the guys on the NFL network call him a "natural left tackle." He's probably a top 20 pick at worst right now, maybe he can move up into the top 15. I haven't seen much about the USC tackle, who is apparently #1 on most boards atm.
