Pollsters turning in ballots for the Associated Press poll were also asked to pick the nation's best mascots, and the AP compiled its list of the best.

Three from the Big 12 came in the top 12, tied with the SEC for the most.

My pick for the conference's best, Ralphie the Buffalo at Colorado, topped the list.

1. Ralphie the Buffalo, Colorado

7. Bevo, Texas

9. The Masked Rider, Texas Tech
