Here is a good article on how the process works for guys thinking about declaring for the draft early.

    A few highlights:

Since the NCAA bars third parties (even family members) of college players from reaching out to NBA teams to discuss their draft stock, and the NBA itself has strict no-contact rules regarding the way teams can communicate with players who are not officially draft-eligible (before the early-entry list is released in early May), the only way an underclassman can gather information about his draft stock is through his college head coach. Furthermore, the head coach is only allowed to talk with the principal basketball operations executive from each team (ie: the general manager), according to NBA rules, and the underclassman may not participate in or be present during any such conversation.

To help with this process, the NBA is again offering underclassmen the ability to get actual feedback from a group of executives representing 20 NBA teams selected by the League Office, and chaired by NBA Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Stu Jackson, called the NBA Undergraduate Advisory Committee.

According to NBA spokesman Tim Frank “once the committee does their analysis of the player, the draft projection is communicated to the player, coach, or anyone else who the player designates, such as family, in a phone call in which the draft projection is shared and the player (or others involved) can ask questions about the projection and the draft process.”

I'd fully expect Roberson to go to the advisory committee. Sure as hell hope The Mayor doesn't. That would freak me out if both of them did.

Roberson is going to the committee, Thorburn mentioned it in an article. From reading that article I'm not sure why Dinwiddie wouldn't go to the advisory committee as well. I don't see a downside, going to the advisory committee isn't declaring and you don't have to actually declare until the 28th. He would have two weeks to talk about it with his family after hearing from the committee.

I think it's because you can only do it once and then back out. If Spencer has decided to come back, it's best not to waste it this year. Better to see what they say next year.

But you're not actually backing out of anything by going to the committee. There doesn't appear to be a rule that says you can't go to the committee multiple years/times.

You might be right. I thought that you had to declare to get them to review. And then if you didn't like what you heard, you could back out of the draft and return to college as long as you didn't hire an agent.

I know nothing about the process outside of what the article says. But here is what it says on it.

What's important to note (and has been widely misreported in the media), is that requesting an evaluation from the advisory committee does not constitute entering the draft. In fact, the application form explicitly states that “this application is not a declaration of eligibility for the 2013 NBA draft. A separate letter must be sent to Commission David Stern (received by April 28, 2013) declaring eligibility for the 2013 NBA draft. An application form for the 2013 NBA draft will be sent upon receipt of the letter of declaration.”

I could see there being a rule on only going to the committee once, but I'm just not sure there is one.

Since that's the case, I'd recommend that Jelly and BigX get evaluations.

    I second this.

Seriously, as much as it will hurt the team if Dre & Spencer go pro next year, the benefits down the road will be HUGE. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather have the Sweet 16/Elite 8 run next year with them, but if we're a place that's sent out 3 first round picks in 3 years, with Higgins & Brown getting NBA looks and XJ & Jelly in the wings, recruits are going to notice.

but that also makes us huge underachievers. At some points you gotta have some serious tourney runs if you have that many NBA players on your roster. Hell I was reading something about Louisville and they have 2 or 3 nba players on their roster (Russ Smith, Dieng, maybe Siva or Chane next year). And they are playing in a final four.

I don't like the idea of being Kentucky West, and frankly, I can't forsee the scenario it happens minus massive upgrades (basketball dorms?). However, I'm definitely in favor of anything that raises our profile over a sustainable period of time. I don't want this just to be 1-2 year run and then were back to where we were before. I highly doubt we'll be back to routinely missing the postseason in the first place at this point. But I like the fact, we except to go to the tournament every year now.

It wouldn't make sense otherwise, the whole idea of this advisory committee is to protect the players so they won't loose their college eligibility but at the same time they could cash in otherwise. That said, if a player was doing this every year, I think it might look bad if they cameback the 2nd time with eligbility left especially since they already value in many cases potential over production.

Common sense says he needs to come back. That said, seeing what his parents were like this year, it wouldn't surprise me if he bolted.

Looks like Jahii will be back. I don't see them holding an event for the season ticket holders to announce he is breaking their hearts and going pro.

Coach Sendek ‏@HerbSendek 2h Season Ticket Holders please join us at 6:30pm 2nite for a presser @ Dutson Thtr featuring an announcement by Jahii.

If he's staying, that would mean the folks at ASU have figured out how to fix Jahii's academic record.

How bad are your grades if you're having a hard time staying eligible at ASU?!?
