    #7 Okie State 31 - #22 Virginia Tech 14

The Cowboys raced out to an early lead, survived a crazy 60 seconds before halftime, and held on against a game Hokies squad. I was up 21-0 and driving with about a minute left in the 2ndQ and was about to make it a 24 or 28 point lead (and effectively end the game) when HolyBuff caused a fumble and threw a quick bomb (which led to a short TD pass) to make it 21-7. I then inexplicably threw three incompletions, punted, and gave up another bomb (which set up a short TD run) and all of the sudden it was 21-14 with :04 seconds left in the 2nd. HolyBuff tried a squib kick that gave me the ball just short of midfield - my hail mary pass was caught but Blackmon went out at the 1 inch line (still no challenges in Online Dynasty play), 21-14 at the half.

In the 2nd half, I adjusted my deep ball defense and handed to ball off to SO RB Joseph Randle (31 car 328 yds 2 TDs) to finish out the win. Good game HB.

Daaah, sorry about last night. My leg got mangled at a softball tournament, and I was tending to my wounds. I can play Tuesday evening around 830 if you're available.

We're on All-American... I'd be more worried about your conference mate (South Carolina) than any CPU teams...

You are right, ever since I lost to you, I've had issues with those pesky humans. However, I still got that series record :wink2:.Eh, well, I haven't been able to play like I used to . I think I'm .500 lately. Losing to Scraipermann was a disgrace though. I had like 5 picks and 5 fumbles . Starting to get my feet under me finally. I think I need to stop playing on wifi, this **** sucks.

Anyways, beat UF 38-10 after going down 10-0 (near pick 6). After a ROUGH first 1.5 quarters where I think I had maybe 50 yards of offense, I converted a 4th and 1, scored, and didn't look back. I put together my usual ~400 yard game of offense, 32 rushes for 154 yards, 14 of 26 for 253 passing with 2 TDs. Where I really improved this game was 3d down conversions (58%).

I once again request assistance with this game. Any tips would be welcome. I cannot move the ball on offense. My receivers cannot finish routes before I am sacked and my oline does not open lanes for the rb and if i try to run outside my tackles just stand there as guys run around them to hit me. I dunno what I'm doing wrong, but if I can't do any better, I'm pretty much done with it. Way too frustrating and not something I need in my life.

Thanks to rumblin' for allowing a restart (though in retrospect, it would probably have been better if I just played it out). For some reason it was not allowing me to select plays the first time around.

I think i had like 5 yards of offense.

Okie state worked me in the first game so I know the feeling; Nut you're wayyyy too good for me. In this game I got a little lucky with some turnovers to help keep the shutout. Shame Malcom Floyd got concussed on the fist play; would've liked to get the kid some PT since I run the ball too damn much.

One thing I noticed is you may want to practice a little more loft on passes. The D this year is geared towards stopping laser passes, and almost anytime you hold the button down it'll get swatted. I almost quit this years version cause of the super lb bull****.

Thank you. That is useful info as I always just hold the button. Any tips on how to avoid the pass rush?

Sorry for such a crappy game. I can assure you it annoyed me more than you.

Pass rush is over-emphasized this year. I've had to combat it mostly with quick hitting routes that I've just timed through practice.

There's a line audible feature if you read the defense (Left trigger(?) then stick in the direction you need) that can help with bitzes. It shifts protection if you can read the blitz is coming.

Additionally, you can audible a highlighted offensive player to stay in and block (one of the hot route options). Lot of times the release route out of the backfield is worthless, and its better served to have them stay in and help. Passing out of shotgun also helps give you a split extra second.

You can also combat heavy pass rush by throwing in a screen pass every now and again. It ****s over-eager rushers (like myself).

I tried one screen pass and was sacked for a 10+ yard loss. But that was my fault. Seriously, though, thanks for the tips. I'll try them out.

I was ready to throw the wand through the ****ing tv during that game.

He might have the DL on aggressive getting them a jump on the ball. Have you tried hard counts?

I was going to recommend the screen pass as well, but also draw plays can work well against the blitz. Since it sounds like you're having trouble running, the advice I'd give you is to 1) completely scrap the option (if you haven't already) as it does not work in this game; 2) always let your blocks develop before you hit the hole; 3) know where your strengths are on the O-Line and run behind your best players, including fullbacks and TEs - and mix up your play calling. Also on passing, never gun the ball (hold the pass button) unless you have a guy WIDE open. Touch passes are essential to avoiding a ton of picks. Get out the kinks in practice mode and "just go."

Before snapping the ball, look at what the D is doing (I watch the safeties in particular). After snapping, I look at the linemen. If the de's rush straight up the field, stay in the pocket. If not you can try moving outside the pocket (risky, but the FSU qb is fast so you may be able to run on occasion). If you see lb's blitzing, get the ball out quick. There will probably someone open in the middle depending on how many guys are running routes. Short crossing routes and curls work pretty well. I get picked on slants all the time so I hate them. Screens and bubble screens can work but I don't run them much because of the risk of a loss. Also, aiming the ball with the stick can be very helpful (ex on a curl if the db is behind your wr press down and the ball will be thrown low where only your wr can get to it).

Once you start to get the timing down you can put together some nice long 10+ play drives.
