Nembot

BTW, this is why losing a guy like Rodriguez in recruiting is mildly important.

Not sure I heard anyone downplay losing Rodriguez. That stung. But we had apparently fended off LSU, not sure how, but could fend off the Horns, his home state powerhouse school. Don't think you can blame the staff for this.

I am not blaming the staff, just saying Rodriguez was not really "replaced" by the JUCO transfer. The OT depth is an issue going forward, not just this season.

I 100% agree with this. Our OL recruiting, as you have said previously has not been good for many years. Not only do we not have great depth (it was even worse when Embree took over) but not sure we have a clear 5-6 guys who are BCS worthy starters. I hope I am wrong about that.

Wait. a minute.

Left tackles are better pass blockers than right tackles?

I think the OL this fall will have some players, but we really need another couple good recruiting classes to build a reliable two-deep.

I have no issues with Nembot working at LT. The coaches need any and all options available there.

Are you suggesting that there are people here who didn't feel like losing Rodriguez was a big deal? Did I miss that? I remember a bunch of folks about ready to jump off a bridge when he announced he was flipping to the whorns.

Also, would Rodriguez have been in the mix for playing time this year? I was under the impression that the staff wanted to redshirt him and all the OL recruits.

Rodriguez would likely have played as a true freshman, potentially a lot. Was more getting at the correlation between the 2014 recruiting class and the 2014 team in the previous post.

Any word on Lisella? Will he have any chance at playing time?

I'm not going to say a guy has no chance before they've even put pads on in the spring. But the plan seems to be for him to redshirt this year. He was brought in as more of a developmental prospect that had a lot of weight to gain and practice experience needed.

Much more likely that you'll see someone like Kronshage at LT.

We are so thin that they may not have had much choice.

I don't think there are any coaches who wouldn't prefer to RS offensive linemen but our depth is so bad that he would likely be better than some of the upperclassmen ahead of him.

Nembot could play LT, just needs to continue to get better, he is big and athletic. He has not played a lot of football on the OL, still a work in progress.
