I work with kids and wish that a lot more parents had your attitude.

Jake may not end up being what you wanted him to be (i.e. starting QB, etc.) but much more importantly he is much more likely to end up being who you wanted him to be (a quality well rounded person doing something with his life he really enjoys.)
 
I know this one dates me but one of the best profs I had at CU was Joe Romig. He taught physics and astronomy but in the early '60s he was a 2x All America guard before becoming a Rhodes Scholar. His number - 67 - was retired.
