So, the Buffs start their Bay Area matches in back to back nights against Cal this evening at 8:00 Colorado time.

As I also noted against Washington State last weekend, the Buffs had better bring their A game tonight, as, even though they are only 1-15 in conference, the G. Bears have A LOT of talent, and will beat the Buffs if they're looking forward AT ALL to tomorrow night's Stanford Match. (There are NO easy Pac 12 wins!) Cal just got their 1st conference win of the season last weekend ON THE ROAD against one of the Buff's main nemeses, USC, so are playing better. And, in the Buffs 4 set win against the Bears in mid October, 2 of the set wins were by 2 and 3 points, so the match obviously could have gone either way.

With talents such as Outside Hitter Christina Higgins, Middle Blocker Lillian Schonewise and Libero Maddy Kerr, the Bears have as much talent from their leaders in their positions as just about any but the top teams in the Pac 12, but just haven't gotten consistent production (partly due to injury) from the rest of the team.

Go Buffs!

Concur with your remarks on Cal--an extremely talented team that will beat the Buffs if they're not on. However, I'd point out that those previous close matches with the Bears were sans Taylor Simpson.

16 all (Being reliant on Twitter for updates feels like reading a book by candle nowadays.)

27-26 Cal. TO Buffs (Looks like the Buffs have had 2 set points- this is 1st one for Cal.)

Way to go Buffs!

Live Stats all over the place, but the highest score it shows is 16-9 Buffs. (Some times the play by play section is ahead of the score at the top, other times it's the opposite.)

Looks like twitter has it best right now.

Aztec is fast tonight.

ymssra

Someone please hit Aztec with some gleeb for me.

Looks like Livestats MAY have caught up. If so, through 2 games:

1) Another great night so far from T. Simpson (13 kills and hitting .393) with good support from A. Austin (9 kills hitting .200).

2) C. Simpson with a big digging night already, 13. T. Simpson with a good chance for another double double- 7 digs with at least one set to go.

3) Only 3 serving errors vs. 2 aces, so that sounds good (although always hard to tell how effective serving is unless you're watching the match, ideally live.)

4) Buffs outhitting Cal .294 to .151, and look to be +1 in blocks, so both those stats also going the Buff's way.

Buffs up 14-6 already in set 3- finish them off quick if you can and rest up for Stanford!

Got me again, Aztec.

Nothing you can do about Orr. Dude's got a legendarily quick trigger.
