The guy takes over a shell of a program that has rightly been dragged thru the mud. Transfers of much of his talent. Low expectations. Result 7-4 with one game to play against Wisconsin. That is some damn fine coaching and getting the most out of your team.

Compare that to CU and you see who got the death penalty with their coaching staff selection

Record would be even better if Silas Redd hadn't transferred to USC. As for Silas, he he didn't exactly get a better season by leaving.

The transfer losses weren't that great. PENN ST won't feel the pain for another couple years. The scholarship restrictions will really start to take effect and be compounded by difficulty in recruiting.

I would not use PSU as an example. They had a lot of seniors that could play football and they were on a mission. They did NOT lose a lot of transfers. They will be worse than CU in 4 years.

Our 2005 season, for instance, had a lot potential right up to the freak tornado at Ames.
