Official Buffs Dance Resume Thread

Portland just missed out on what would have been a great win for them. Fell 80-79 to S Illinois. Damn.

Sunday games we care about:

Buffs host Northern Colorado (1:00, PACN)
USC plays Monmouth in Orlando (10:30, ESPN2)... dangerous Monmouth team that beat UCLA & Notre Dame (USC already beat them once)
Brown at #25 SMU (1:00)
UCSB at Arizona State (3:00, PACN)
Boise State vs #11 Arizona in Anaheim (3:00, ESPNU)
CS Northridge at UCLA (5:00, PACN)

Buffs favored by 24.5.

Zona/Boise State is a rematch as well. They thought they'd be in a glamor game against MSU instead of facing Boise again.

Monday:

#21 Oregon (5-0) vs Fresno State (5-0): This Fresno side is a mid-tier MWC squad. There's a chance they could give the Ducks a game. UO favored by 11. Oregon will move up in the new poll. They've got that early win over Baylor, but they've also yet to leave Eugene. Not going to put a ton of stock in them without having left home yet.

Hampton (2-2) @ Grand Canyon (4-0): Can't profess to know about Grand Canyon, but a glance shows they're 4-0 and have mauled some small conference sides. An opponent such as Hampton winning any OOC road game - especially against a 4-0 side - would be an unexpected little boost for our numbers. It's tough for these teams like Hampton OOC. Even if you're decent the endless road games really start to take a toll.

Grand Canyon is coached by Dan Majerle of Phoenix Suns fame. His kid plays for him. They are a decent WAC team.

I believe 8 guys on the team are transfers. Reminds me of the CSU roster.

Updated the OP with the RPIs at the start of this Week 4. Obviously, a bunch of it is still wonky. But we're about 20% into the season, so the numbers are somewhat meaningful.

In short, the Buffs need to beat CSU and also need some teams to pull off some quality wins (like AFA did vs NMST to jump to #78).

Top 25 comes out at 11am MT (1pm ET) and I'll update for that when it's available.

How on Earth did CSU receive a vote in this week's AP poll?

I wish our OOC schedule was a bit tougher, but many schools really schedule down these days. Not thinking RPI so much as just getting geared up for the Pac12.

#15 Oregon improved to 6-0 with a 78-73 win over Fresno State. Ducks will now finally leave Eugene for the first time and pay halfway decent UNLV a visit. It'll give a better sense of where Oregon stands. Hard to know too much about a Ducks squad that has yet to hit the road.

Hampton fell to 2-3 with a 63-51 loss at Grand Canyon. Pirates are at Northern Arizona next. That's an OOC road W Hampton can get.

Tuesday:

#5 Iowa State (5-0) vs North Dakota State (4-1): Clones continue to roll. They should be slightly on guard here though. NDSU is a solid side from that pesky Summit League (South Dakota State, Denver, Omaha, etc). NDSU has already knocked off Illinois this season.

Omaha (3-3) vs Eastern Michigan (4-2): We've seen Omaha is no slouch. This is a game they should be able to grab at home. It'd be great to get Omaha as a top 150 for the resume, but they'll need W's like this one to do it (EMU is mid-tier MAC).

Cal (4-2) vs Seattle (2-3): Cal heads back to Berkeley humbled and their top 15 ranking long gone after SDSU and Richmond exposed them in Vegas. Seattle looks awful. Cal should cruise.

Nicholls State (1-3) vs Louisiana College: Non-D1 opponent. No RPI effect.

Nicholls got its win comfortably.

Iowa State looking like a Final 4 team with a 20 point beatdown of NDSU.

Wednesday games we care about on a good night for hoops:

Colorado vs Ft. Lewis (6:00, PACN)... no impact on RPI

Auburn at Coastal Carolina (5:00)... great opportunity for a road win RPI bump
#22 SMU at TCU (6:00)... like with Auburn, good RPI opportunity
Arizona State at Creighton (7:00, CBSSN)... tough spot for ASU, but could be great (Creighton's good, but beatable)
The Citadel at Air Force (7:00)... AFA needs to and should win this one
Hampton at Northern Arizona (7:00)... Hampton's got a good shot here
BYU at Utah (8:00, PACN)... we play Utah twice, but the committee seems to care more about OOC scheduling (it's ok to cheer against rival here)
Loyola Marymount at Oregon State (8:00, PACN)... OSU shouldn't be challenged in this game
Portland at Portland State (8:05)... this one's a toss-up and would be a nice bump if Portland can get a roadie
#13 Gonzaga at Washington State (9:00, FS1)... stranger things have happened

-Auburn and SMU make me a little nervous on the road. SMU has been a bit "meh" recently (hopefully just due to opposition).
-Creighton seems a bit better than projected preseason. An ASU win would be a good get
-Time for Portland to stop ****ing around and gut out a decent road win
-BYU/Utah should be fun
-Could see the Cougs ride momentum and battle the Zags for a bit

Ha.... love that RPI will give credit for that being a road game. It's less than 8 miles between UP's home arena and PSU's home arena.

Penn State wins 67-58 at Boston College in the ACC/B1G Challenge. Nittany Lions now 4-2.

Auburn holds on for an 81-78 win at Coastal Carolina

ASU gets a 79-77 road win at Creighton. Scum Devils improve to 5-2

Air Force tops The Citadel, 97-93. Falcons improve to 5-2

Those are huge tonight.

Hampton's in OT2 at Northern Arizona after being down 16 at the end of the 1st half. Fingers crossed. Up 2 with under 2 minutes.

Huge road win by Hampton. NAU was picked 4th in the Big Sky by both the media and coaches. Tonight is doing CU's resume a TON of favors.
