Maryland is a team that we need to beat. I think their best 5 may be as good as our best 5, but we go 10 deep and they have no bench.

Games on back to back days is not good for them. It's a shame that they were blown out, though. I don't think the Terps had to expend much energy the 2nd half.

CU has to pack it in and make them shoot from the outside, Maryland has made 2 3pt shots through 2 games. They have no shooters, they shoot EFG% of 38%, they are going to miss a lot, so if CU hits the boards and doesn't give them second opportunities this game should be one in the win column.

This is definatly a down year, and the reason that Gary decided last year was going to be his last, they lost Jordan Williams to the draft, and well, they have been really having trouble on the recruiting trail of late. Many people speculate, but I think a lot of it goes to Gary losing his fire and getting lazy, along with his dealings with the AD. It was good time for Gary to leave, and I think Turgeon will do very well there, but he didnt have much of a team given to him.

One thing to keep in mind is at Maryland, basketball rules. This is how the AD pays the way, football is a afterthought for the most part. So they have school support, and money. These are key to building a good program, and Turgeon will do that.

Don't mind our guys catching the Terps in the depths. Hopefully the Buffs kick them while they're down. A win tonight after a reasonably good showing last night (for where they are at), would be a good shot of confidence for our guys on this trip. Hopefully the Tide Shocker fest shows some strength in Wichita State making last night that much more acceptable.

I had braced myself for a much bigger drop off from last season, so far the potential seems far better, but then, that's what early season is all about.

It's not 2002 anymore. They had been on a downward trajectory under Williams for a while. He had always had an eye for finding talent that had been overlooked, but it just wasn't happening for them as of late. They made the NCAA Second Round as recently as two years ago, but there was no mistaking that Maryland was in decline. Last year they didn't even make the NIT. Turgeon has a pretty sizable rebuilding job ahead of him, the Terps need a couple big recruiting classes to get them back to where their fans expect them to be.

It's fixable, though. Maryland should be able to immediately out-recruit everyone except Duke and North Carolina (and now Syracuse) in the ACC. In 3 years, I expect Turgeon to have Maryland back to be among the better programs and a mainstay in the Sweet 16.

Turgeon will take a couple of years to get his system in place, under Williams they always loved to play fast, Turgeon on the other hand loves to grind it to a halt. The players just don't know how to play right now.

    http://espn.go.com/blog/statsinfo/post/_/id/32171/numbers-to-know-terrapins-cant-score

Maryland scored only 42 points in a 20-point loss to Alabama on Thursday. It marked Maryland’s lowest scoring total since a 42-41 win at West Virginia in December 1985.

The Terrapins haven’t scored fewer points in a game since March, 1982, when they put up just 28 against North Carolina State, the lowest scoring total in school history. Maryland didn’t even have a player in double figures, as their starting backcourt trio combined to go 2-for-23 from the field.

The Terps were particularly woeful before halftime, shooting just 18.5 percent.

"We were a train wreck falling off a cliff in the first half," said head coach Mark Turgeon.

CU MUST MAKE THEM SHOOT OUTSIDE - PACK IT IN, DARE THEM TO SHOOT!!!
